Driving Dynamics: 1st gen vs. 2nd gen

Hey everyone, newbie here...

I owned a 2004 G35 (sport suspension, body kit, Infiniti chrome rims, pretty much everything but Navi) prior to my current car, an Acura TL (hence the ASPEC in my user name - yes, it is an A-Spec car). I LOVE the 1st gen G, especially the '05 and '06! I was going to trade my '04 for a fully equipped w/ Navi '06 but the dealer was an a$s and quoted me an unsatisfactory trade-in value... so he lost the sale to Acura. I have always been and still am an Infiniti-buff all the way. The G35 is my fav car, with the TL being my 2nd. Here's where I get to the point...

When I saw the desgin of the '07 G I was very upset. Let's just say it's no longer my favorite car. Now it's "just ok." However, I'm sick of my FWD car. Don't get me wrong, the TL is a great car - but i HATE FWD and if they keep that platform, they can kiss my *** goodbye. I've kind of been leaning toward returning to Infiniti b/c I love the brand, the superior customer svc, and all the company has to offer. At this point I am CONSIDERING an '07, but it is at the bottom of my list b/c I don't like the new design as much as I did the old.

How many ppl here have gone from a 1st gen to 2nd gen, and are satisfied with the design (no need to comment on an improved interior as that states the obvious) and driving dynamics compared to the 1st gen? Sorry for the long write-up...

The way you feel about the 07 is the way I felt about the 03. I was in Japan when it came out and I couldn't believe the new design (in Japan G35 is a Skyline which has been around for decades). Several years later it has grown on me and now I own an 06. Check out the 07 in person and give it a test drive, it may grow on you.

I really like the new design of the 07, except for the rear quarter panels, too round at the lights and that crease around the wheel well that drops down?!!?? WTF!!!

thanks for the help, guys... i wish i could buy an '06 right now but my car is a lease 'til '09... ehh... that will either give me a few years for the car to grow on me or a few years to find a low mileage '06 or a totally different car. (I've also considered the M45 Sport - i like it a lot) My dad has an FX 45 and that thing is FAST! I like my car, but everytime I walk out of some place and a G35 has parked next to it I just sigh... Should've never gotten rid of that car! If I find a low mileage, nicely equipped (w/ NAVI!) '05/'06 I may go for it. The '07 just doesn't do if for me like the prev gen.
