screeching in dash

I have done a search so not to waste anyone's time but I have not come up with anything.
Today when I put my car into park and started to turn off the ignition there was a electronic screeching noise. It continued when I turned the car off and took the keys out of the ignition.
It stopped when I put the keys back in the ignition and started the car.
It was kind of weird because it happened once last week and not again until today. It is coming from the drivers side to the left of the steering wheel.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

Wow, Matt....that is a strange one.

The only thing I can think of that makes any noise and is down in that area is the blinker/4-way clicker. It's not mechanical in our cars but electronic, but dang it should be dead with the ignition off.
Sorry I can be more help.

Colin

Thanks again for the info, it is greatly appreciated

Does anyone know what was causing the Screeching sound? Mine did it twice today withing 6 minutes of each other. I am suppose to be showing my car to a few diff potential buyers and I don't care if it makes the sound. I just want to be able to tell them why it makes it and how to fix it (if I don't fix it by then).
