I know on the 05 and 06 the mid-pipe is smaller than on the previous models. Will I hear a difference if I change out my midpipe on my 06?

the 03-04 gain some hp from changing the mid-pipe, but we only gain sound and the loss of a few pounds. It does sound damn good though.

Thanks, have you noticed any drone at around the 1500-2000rpm range (or any range) like those who have had the coupe midpipe installed?

I did when I had my coupe midpipe. I also experienced some very minor initial load vibrations mostly thanks to the fact that the coupe midpipe only uses one of the exhaust hangers compared to the two utilized by the sedan midpipe. I also wasn't a big fan of the exhaust noise because it didn't sound quite right since the resonator is tuned for the Coupe's cross-flow muffler. These three issues prompted me to remove the coupe midpipe. I will eventually buy the 05+ sedan midpipe which uses a 60% smaller resonator, has the two exhaust hangers, and is tuned for the variable capacity muffler used on the sedan.

DVatz - nice write-up & comparison! I like it...makes people w/ stock G's realize what they can do for their cars.

I wonder if that stock resonator was originally designed as a dual outlet? Sure looks that way

I have a 06 how different does the 05-06 stock system sound compared to the pre 05-06. I think it sounds pretty nice. Close to the coupe

Thanks!

As for the 1500 -2000 rpm drone, yes, it's there, but only under acceleration. Once you reach cruising speed at ~40 mph, the drone disappears. And strangely enough, the exhaust rattles a little at high rpms (6k and above), I assume this is what DaveB is referring to as the exhaust hanger issue. I didn't experience this rattle until the intake silencers were removed for the POP charger and Z tube, however.

Before I got this set up I asked the dealer if they had any used coupe midpipes around that they could part with. They mentioned an '05 mid for a sedan was all they had, but the parts guy reassured me it still had a large resonator compared to the coupe. So like the guys have said before, the '05 resonator is smaller compared to the coupe, but not by much.

I drove a loaner '06 once, and the tone was a bit more aggressive than my stock '03.5, but only noticeable under acceleration, mainly in the 4k range and above.

Interesting i just did the same.... Yet my resonator weight over 40+lbs.....

In addition to that i didn't put a resonator, i replaced that and put a 2.5inch high flow muffler (magna flow type).... Somewhat similar to the Coupe, and the car sounds stock perhaps 2db's louder than stock on idle, once you punch it it sounds ALMOST like the coupe no raspy or drowning noises....

Nice to see im not the only one fooling around with the Sedan :P
