Talking For the Sedans without mods...

I think you should see what is under and in your car. It is sickening. Let me explain with a pictography of my weekend.

It began with a trip to Kinney's Muffler Shop. Now I wanted to wait and find a coupe mid, but fighting everyone else for one made it near impossible to find. Plus, I got fixed up for about the price of a mid pipe plus shipping. For those that have never seen a stock resonator, allow me to treat:

And if that doesn't make you go "hmmmm..." perhaps this will help?

There's your proof in pictures. Kinney's did a beautiful job, as I expected.

Result? A nice, deep tone under load, especially accelerating around 1500 rpm. On the highway cruising, I couldn't tell a difference from stock!

On to intake. I picked up a nice JWT POP Charger - Z Tube combo. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, there's a lot of plastic in there!

Stock engine bay:

All that crap you don't see:

And this is what I love to see:

I won't hold anything back - This girl got loud at high rpms, and she wants to GO now. I can't believe how much more aggresive it feels now. I can't verify any power gains for sure, but she did lose some weight, that's certain.

I hope this helps some of you guys out there deciding what mods to do first. It sure helps me to know what I'm dealing with beforehand, and I had not seen good pics like this yet.

Cheers,

Ha, funny...I just did the same things to my G in the last 2 weeks too. I didn't take any pics of my POP charger yet (which, btw, I found on eBay for $61 shipped never used). I also painted my heatshield black so that it didn't stand out as much.

Anyway, here are some pics of my sedan midpipe with the coupe midpipe. There are photos like this floating around the forum, but I thought it was kinda hard to find.

Did you just replace the stock resonator and keep the rest of the exhaust stock?

Yep, I'm on a budget. Check back with me in three years, however. I hope to be in the twin turbo arena.

Is your new pipe stainless steel? Is the stock one? How big of a resonator did you use?

Great job man. This is probably one of the nicest mods that pretty much anyone can do with a small budget. Excellent.

The new pipe is hardly stainless. I'm pretty sure it's aluminum. Kirk painted over the welds as they do with all the jobs (prevents that nasty rust). The resonator is either 14 or 16 inches. I wanted more performance, but I'm still trying to keep it quiet. There's a bun in the oven if you know what I mean. And this is the family car. Heh.

I too for the first time today noticed how big the stock midpipe is on my car when I got it on a lift to change out my drive belts. So I guess installing a stock midpipe from the G coupe will make my car sound more like from the coupe? How much of a weight difference is there between both midpipes?

lol theres a big difference between our middy and the coupes i think. Anything would be lighter then our mid pipe.

Any sound clips? I might consider this; I was thinking about the one from Vibrant Performance, but it seems to have disappeared (I emailed them direclty; no reply). I am staying n/a so I don't see a need for true dual.

Unfortunately no sound clips will be available unless someone in the area wants to film me (I don't have the means to video tape. I do have music recording equipment, maybe I could work that out somehow...).
