iPod options?

I have a 2003 sedan with a Bose stereo. It does not have a SAT or RADIO button. Is there still a direct-connect option for my setup? My Bose has a 6-CD changer which no longer works. Is there a place I can unplug the changer and plug in the iPod adaptor?

Another option - if I replaced my stereo with a different SAT-capable Bose, is that an easy plug and play switch? if so, then I could easily hook up the iPod adaptor.

Thanks for any advice!

I've got the monster icruze that would work for you in case you're interested. It uses the CD button to change to the ipod. I've got a 2003 w/o sat button and picked it up but never got around to installing it.

Go search the audio and video forum in the tech area, this has been discussed ad naseum.

re: iPod integration

FYI - I did do a search before posting my question, but almost everything I've read regarding hard-wiring the iPod involves Bose units pre-wired for satellite Radio (SAT button). My Bose does not have this feature. If someone HAS already posted a solution for my setup, I did not see it. My apologies....

^^I thought all the Bose systems have a SAT button but only works in you have the satellite receiver connected. Otherwise it doesn't really do much but at least the SAT button is there.

I used the USA SPEC PA11-NIS. You can get anywhere from $120-140 if you have the balz to pull part of your dash apart. There are some pretty good instructions in the audio/video section here. Not sure it will work if your CD player is trashed though.

It'll still work even without the SAT button. And yes, it has been discussed in the audio/video forum. USA Spec is the way to go.

I did my ipod solution on a budget. It's lacking in features and playing with the buttons and dials must be done while stopped, but FWIW - I just got one of those radio transmitters that accepts the ipod, connects to it, and then transmits the music on a radio channel. I start up my mix right after I start my car and then tune in. The unit gets its power from the cigarette lighter under the armrest/console, so it's completely stealth. Unfortunately, my current mounting options requires the ipod to be upside down, hence the need to only futz with it while stopped, but that could likely be worked around with some re-wiring of the power supply...

I too went the budget route. I bought one of those casette player adapter ones, and it works better than the FM transmitter I tried (though it could just be that I had a crappy transmitter). Sound is clear and crisp, and I don't hear the tape spinning.

Dude obviously wasn't searching the Audio forum, must've been in the sedan forum reading other posts erroneously placed there by people who don't know what they are doing so they wouldn't have the right information anyway.
