plastic under body cover

So I'm driving along I87 in NYC when I hear what sounds like a bottle smashing into the bottom of my car. I pull over and find that there's no real visible damage. Two days later, I hear a scraping sound coming from the bottom of the car. Apparently something shredded the plastic cowl that covers the bottom of the car. Does anyone know what it's called and where I can get it?

Thanks!

you can get it at the infiniti dealer. they aint too expensive.

I have removed that cowl completely, as well as the fender lining

Get them from the dealer. I believe it's called a shroud but if you go and say you need the plastic piece that covers the engine underneath they will know what you are talking about. I think it should be no more than 100.00

I just went to the dealer a couple of weeks ago to get my car checked out (I just purchased it from another dealer). They told me that piece was missing, and would set me back around $160-170. That could have been with installation labor included though. Needless to say, I went without. My service advisor said it's more for keeping the engine bay clean than anything, and I take care of that regardless!

It helps with the aerodynamics! You want this part to remain on your car!

Oh absolutely! As soon as I scrounge up the couch change to pay for it, I'll get one. If only I knew this sooner, I would have gone back to the dealer I bought it from and told them to get me one. This isn't the only piece missing from my car they sold to me. Too bad I found out too late...

Yep, this is a main part of the zero lift capability of the car. Without the cover, air will build in pockets under the car which will reduce stability and increase the coefficent of drag. It's not like the car is going to be a danger, but it will loose some of the amazing stability the car has at highway speed.

Another option for sourcing the panel is a local junkyard.
