AWD vs sport package

For those of you who have considered the G35x AWD, you cannot order this car with the sport package. I live in hilly, rainy, and often snowy Pittsburgh and am considering the g35x as my next car, after having owned an Audi A4 for the past 5 years. How much do you really give up in terms of handling without the sport package? I know the titanium finish is nice, but what about the wood? I am likely to go with the automatic tranny either way if I order the G35 or the G35x as my wife want to drive this one. Thanks for your input

It's a significant enough differance that if you are asking the questions based on a concern for the handling differance, that if your hell bent on the G35X that you should locate a sedan owner that has a sport suspension to sell and buy that suspension in advance of the car. For someone that will push the car, again handling wise the differances are numerious and not to be minimized. If you don't care about handling, it becomes more of a why bother issue. But even when I wasn't pushing my non-sport loaner, it reaked of a under-dampened suspension if road conditions caused any kind of wheel movement of any sort.

I agree. I think to have the AWD without the sport suspension or better would be like having a night out with a supermodel and not getting to touch her goodies. :^ )

I would think an aftermarket suspension would be a better route to go than to find the oem sport suspension bits, if you're going to spend the extra money that way.

You can't be seroius about a G35X without the sport package. If you like to feel every bump in the road while driving normally, then the sport package is for you. I for one felt it was a little too stiff. If your are carving up corners and hills, then the sport is great. But, where I live the roads (especially in the winter) are bumpy as hell! It all depends on the kind of driving and the conditions of the roads.

Why not buy the G35x then buy an aftermarket suspension? The sport suspension is nice but I am sure that an aftermarket one would be better. This would also allow you to get lowered springs

Re: AWD vs sport package

I test drove both the 2004 Auto without a sport suspension and the 6MT with the included sport suspension. I decided not to consider the AWD model even though I live in NJ because I really wanted the 6MT. The auto without the sport suspension is still a very sporty sedan, and absorbs road imperfections more smoothly than my 6MT with the included sport suspension, but I wouldn't give up the manual tranny for anything. I love zooming this thing through the twisting back roads around my house.
