What the different between injen RD1990 and RD1992?
will both suit G35 sedan? I'm looking foward to buy one, and can anyone tell me a good online shop to buy it for cheaper price?

Re: Injen CAI

I think one is for manual transmission, and the other is for auto.

Re: Injen CAI

The 1992 is a better design. You can search for my previous comments on this topic, but the synopsis is that there is NO REASON to buy the 1990, even if you have an automatic.

Re: Injen CAI

I got curious,..........hmmm which one do I have. Just looked at the box I'm using it to store the original intake system in. Gee, I have the 1990. I think the problems that are encountered are the same that have been popping up on a multitude of newly installed intakes, from the Injen's to the Stillens. The ECU's learning curve seems to catch us off guard. Still can't get mine to cause me a lick of trouble.

As in, I have over six thousand miles on my Injen 1990 model CAI and I have never had a lick of trouble in any way shape or form. Either I drove in a fashion that allowed the ECU to learn hiccup free or my ingnoring Injen's silly install instructions were the key. As I've said before, I have also driven the car to 145mph twice, dumped the clutch to slowly burn off speed and coasted to 80mph. Both times the engine idled 100% true and steady, just like it does at all other times.

Re: Injen CAI

Do you recommend to install injen RD1990 on an automatic transmission G35 sedan?

Re: Injen CAI

You can absolutely install the 1992 on an automatic. It's a better design, I tell ya. It bolts to the car in two places instead of one and doesn't require that extension hose that is prone to rattling around.

Re: Injen CAI

I see ZERO reason why any intake spec'd for the coupe can't be used on the sedan. So by all means use the 1992 intake, if for no other reason that the people that make the intake changed the design on their own R&D efforts to cure customer concerns. Of course I think those problems were ECU learning related and possible tied into Injen's directions getting people to channel to much (turbulent) air into the wheel well. Now, in the end, if your still bothered, just get the Stillen intake and be done with it. If for some reason, I could not run a CAI, the Stillen intake with a Z intake tube, would be my 2nd choice.

Re: Injen CAI

Get the RD1992 if for no other reason than the fact that the directions are better and it doesn't recommend removing the plastic plate. I've already mentioned other reasons as well.

I'm telling you... I've installed both and there's no reason to get the 1990 unless you can get it for a lot less.
