Which brakes do I have?
I just bought a 2003 G35 Sedan with 50,000 miles. I have read that there are two different model brakes that came on this model; Brembo and Standard. Is this right, and if so how can I tell which ones I have?
Thanks

Sedan = no brembos ever offered.
But there were two sedan brakes. Single piston / smaller rotors for the 03-04. 05 sedans got 2 piston calipers and larger rotors.
But don't worry, you still have world class brakes.

Yeah, I replaced my oem pads with some Raybestos and have been fairly happy. I have 42k on the car and they are on the original rotors. Just have to catch the pads before they dig into the rotors.
My ideal setup would be some 05 brakes w/ their oem sized rotors in 2pc. Anyone want to comment on that? hehe

Ok, I get it......Sedans = No Brembos
So how true are the posts that I have been reading regarding squeaking and the overall pain that the G35 brakes are? Am I really going to have to replace them every 20,000 miles or so? Right now they are squeaking when I just about come to a complete stop.
Any thoughts on aftermarket brake replacements?

I had my fronts replaced completely (pads and rotors) 3 times within the first 42K. Once in the rear.
There are lots of replacements you can go with. Try doing a search. You should be able to come up with alot of info there.

If you have the money I would look into a better upgrade for the fronts like a big brake kit. The rears do well as-is or with a 13" rotor/oem caliper upgrade and better pads like Hawk.
