Any regrets?
Re: Any regrets?
Glad to hear that.
You are entitled to your own opinion, I respect that.
Has gone to hell, I should say Mercedes quality. Now I am just leaving my E320 in the garage. The POS's instrument light has gone, signal lights don't work, and rear windows don't go up no more. Remeber the guy who traded in his Gcoupe for an AMG C43. I've read some of his postings in one of the Mercedes forums. He regreted that he should've researched some more about Mercedes and browsed about in the Mercedes forums before getting the car, because he didn't know that Mercedes has so many problems, as most of the topics are addressed to Mercedes problems and the service history of his car show multiple repairs. He also mentioned that his new car doesn't track as precise as his Gcoupe did, as well as some minor issues. The good news for him is that he has extended warranty, so hopefull he'll resolve all the problems before the warranty is expired.

Re: Any regrets?
"...we can only judge looks by majority"
I'll have to remember that one. Strong argument, there.
As for the original post, I have absolutely no regrets at almost 15,000 miles. IMO, the coupe is better-looking, but shuttling the family around in a 2-door car with less room gets old very quickly. When I was shopping, there wasn't another car that offered what the G35S did in the same price range, and I looked at Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Acura.

The Gsedan is basically an nicer Altima. This is a fair opinion, compare the similar body structures on both cars, the same basic set ups. It is much like the G20 before it. Don't fool yourself into thinking that your Gsedan is unique to itself.

Not unique? What Nissan car other than the Z is RWD? Like the G20 before it????

Re: Any regrets?
I walked into the dealership with enough money in hand to purchase outright the coupe or the Sedan. It was a tough decision but the Sedan just had too many more positives going for it. The coupe is a nice second.
Your arguments about judging looks are specious at best. Looks are highly subjective and no confident person would base his perception on the judgement of the masses. Although I do like the coupe a lot, it has a really fat ***. And Just to satisfy your preference for decision by committee, a number of my friends who went with me on test drives felt the same way. The verdict, great looking car, but with a bloated rear.
From certain angles I prefer the looks of the coupe, but from other angles I prefer the appearance of the sedan. But then I judge looks by what I like, not what others think.
As far as buying an M3 or a 545, you should do a little research. Why would I pay $10,000-$30,000 more for a car/maker that consumer reports now ranks worst for expected reliability, same as Mercedes? The germans need to get their act together or they will find themselves sucking Japans fumes.

Re: Any regrets?
First of all. I'd like to say thanks. I got much better responses so far from the SEDAN forum as opposed to the COUPE forum. This was a definitely suprise to me.
If I didn't make myself clear the first time, the G35 sedan is obviously a premium version of the Altima. One can compare the body structures carefully, and see many similarities. Wasn't it talked about how the G20 failed because it was basically a nicer Sentra or something? I'm sure this point came across somewhere on the boards. The G35 sedan hasn't and will not fail because of the superb pricing and performance correlation.
As for calling my argument "specious"... So you and a group of your friends thought the same about the Gcoupe. From your groups point of view, it is true then. Now change the angle to my groups POV. My friends think the Gsedan is trash, and wouldn't consider any four-door car besides the M5 or 5 6speeds true performance sports sedans. Does this make our opinions true? Hardly, right? The M5 is easily more than twice the cost of other sport sedans, so it is obvious a biased opinion, though it has majority[here].
If you're still not convinced about majority governing looks then consider this. To you, your girlfriend or wife might be the most beautiful woman. But to everyone else, she may be just attractive. If everyone thought she was too hot for Earth, she might be a model or something. I hope this brings closure to a pretty abstract point. I didn't mean to drag post-modernism into a G forum, but it happened. Happy driving fellow G's. Thanks for not attacking age.

Re: Any regrets?
I have no regrets on my sedan either.
But...the G35 is in no way a "premium version of the Altima". This from someone that has owned Nissan/Infiniti vehicles since 1974. Apples and oranges my friend.

Re: Any regrets?
Cool. I have a DATSUN 280zx 82. So I guess I've owned an old Nissan too huh? I have no problem with your argument that the G35 sedan isn't an Altima. Now defend yourself.
Oh and I wanted to mention something. I really have no problem with the Gsedan as a car. However, to go as far as to put it over the coupe. I wanted to present an argument which would provide a biased view from a coupe owner's perspective, just to bring the heavenly path of the post down to earth.

Re: Any regrets?
Sorry I don't have time to post all the differences.
Let's start with RWD vs FWD. The G35 is the first RWD vehicle I've owned since my 1978 280Z which I parted with in 1981. This is a HUGE difference that I truly didn't appreciate until I owned my G35.
As for the Coupe vs Sedan "arguement"... I needed 4 doors otherwise I probably would have purchased the Coupe.

Re: Any regrets?
Dragoncoupe, it's truly dissapointing that you come to the sedan forum as a troll to spew all of your anti sedan propaganda. Imflamtory remarks like the sedan is just a nice altima creates a hostile envioronment and goes to show your ignorance about the two cars in general.
When I was car shopping I could have bought a coupe but I chose the sedan. Everyone on G35 chose their car for certain reasons. Coming here to bash on our choice really shows your immaturity and lack of brotherhood among other G35'ers

"My friends think the Gsedan is trash, and wouldn't consider any four-door car besides the M5 or 5 6speeds true performance sports sedans."
If you and your friends had been passengers in my 5A/T G35 Sedan last weekend (something that could actually occur with the sedan) as I was carving up Hwy 276 and the Blue Ridge Parkway in the beautiful mountains of N.C, you would have quickly revised your ignorant opinions. This car is most definitely a sport sedan even in the 5A/T trim. The auto-manual did a beautiful job of letting me control engine speed/gearing thru the tasty cutbacks, dips, and inclines of this highly enjoyable stretch of road.
And as far as a woman's appearance goes, as long as I think she is beautiful, I couldn't care less what other people's opinions of her might be. But hey, that's just me.

Re: Any regrets?
I was actually more interested in the Sedan, I have had too many cars with those long, heavy doors! And, I have never owned a FWD vehicle, I went to pickups in the late 80's to avoid buying one.

Dragon, I wasn’t expecting you, a "coup owner" to be so oblivious and ignorant about an automobile that is so closely related to your own. I recommend you do some more research before you embarrass yourself even more and get a bad rep.

Bravo!!!! Maybe he really drives an Altima

I can't even begin to imagine what you said in the coupe forum.
As others have said, you're entitled to your opinion. But I fail to see the point of logging on to a G35 sedan forum to vilify the car that many of us so obviously chose, unless your intent was to stir things up.

Re: Any regrets?
Check the Coupe forum. Actually someone posted this hear thread on the other forum, and I posted the exact same response. =) I really enjoy reading about how immature I am, too.
As for the Gsedan performance I agree without a doubt. Looks wise, and luxury wise, I would pass. Check out the M5.
