Oil changes - quick lubes?

Hey guys, newbie question...just got my 05 G35x. I've seen posts out here that discussed specific brands of oil filters, etc. Historically, I have always just taken my vehicles to quick lubes such as Master Lube, etc. I'm religious about changing my oil every 3,000 miles...never go over by more than 100 miles. It must be OCD Any problems with me taking the G35x to these quick lubes? any issues? Thanks.

Just make sure they do it right. There are a lot of bad stories about those kind of places.

I always go to the dealer. I pay a little more, but I get the peace of mind. If something goes wrong, there will be no arguing over who fixes it.

+100! There was a news story in my area regarding those places, and they went undercover & found out that many Jiffy Lube places were charging people for oil changes, and have footage on tape of the employees w/ the car in the garage & they never drain the oil nor put new oil in!!!

I personally don't change my oil myself, but I DO check the dipstick after every oil change, to be sure the oil isn't dark.

As for those quicky lube places, they're a rip-off, IMO, since they "top the fluid, check tire pressures & wipers/air filters"....and then charge you $40 plus...when in the end, all they did was "change your oil".....

Why go to those jiffy lube type places when they charge more than the dealer? I've never seen a 30+k car at one of these places.

Ever since I had transmission fluid on my garage floor from a stripped plug I've done my oil changes at a dealership. Currently, it is at a Nissan dealership since they are across the street from where I work vs 100 miles to the nearest infiniti.

The dealership if you can but just watch the quick lube places if you do go.

I have a Nissan dealership close by to me as well. Prices were good, so that's where I ended up going. Plus I get a free car wash then Thanks!

I go to the dealer because the price is similar to a quick joint, (and I've heard a lot of stories about unfilled oil, oil dripping out and engines dying, etc.), I get a loaner for the oil change, I build good will with the dealer (which can be a big help), and if there is a problem, we know who is responsible. I also get to look at the new cars!

The concern with quick lubes is that they often take shortcuts such as not removing the oil filter or pulling on the splash shields instead of removing them. I found that quick lubes do a good job if you tell them upfront what you expect.

Always do it yourself.

or if you must... search your local nissan dealers website for oil change deals. I get them for 23-25 bucks.

No mo Mobil 1.............

Since Mobil 1 changed their base I had to have pure synthentic oil running
thru my Gs internals. So, I switched to Red Line but still using K&N filters.
This stuff in costly, may have to go 3K between changes now.......haha!
I'm a DIY kinda guy, but I always go to my buddys shop and use his lift.
That way when the oil is draining I can wipe down my exhaust and check
tire pressure.......my kinda fun!
