Block Heater

Ok, it's been crazy cold here lately (-20 degrees celsius) and I just wanted to know how to check if my block heater is working properly (besides seeing a small spark when I plug it in)?

Does it heat the oil or rad fluid or both or what?

I haven't found much on here or the service & owners manual but any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The "block heater" in the sedan heats both the engine oil and the coolant.

4 hours max is the most time you would need to warm up your car. Get a timer so you don't have to run in and out just to unplug/plug the car.

Most times I will not use it until the outside temp would fall below -10C.

You will know the difference when starting your car. It will be much easier to turn over...
