+2. In fact the G35x, imo, contains one of the better AWD systems on the market. R6Clan, if this person were to have tested a G (with snow tires) on snowy back roads, they would have fallen in love with it immediately. He may have been right about the RWD until you need the traction control but he doesn't realize that feature is a HUGE positive. If he needs prove...I offer this:

Sorry, Wayne, I love this shot!

Moreover, what you get more than a 4WD car is:
- the fun of a true sports car (RWD) since you are basically at 0:100 unless if you are launching or loose traction
- Traction, traction and a lot of traction since the system can send ALL THE TORQUE to the wheel or drive shaft that need it to keep your car in control.

So why would you want to have a full time AWD car when you have a more intelligent version of it that can give you alot more (alot more than best of both worlds).

G/L with your new G
I think what you said is 95% true... except I don't think it can send ALL of the torque to any driveshaft. I'm pretty sure it can't go more than 50% to the front at anytime. All other points, totally agree!

I will check on the 100% torque transfer statment =)

Side note, 270mpg ? you mean 270 miles per tank right?...

Lots of factors go into that. Do you live up north here where we've been getting blow-zero weather? Mostly city or highway driving? I've seen that cold temps affect gas mileage pretty badly. Also, with the 20-gallon tank, I'm assuming you're not driving it down to empty, but maybe used anywhere up to about 17 gallons. Assuming that, you probably get about 16 mpg, which if mostly city driving, would be just 1mpg below the EPA rating. For comparison, my wife's RX300 that's EPA-rated at 18mpg City/22mpg Hwy gets only about 15mpg's in this weather...ouch...

I have to agree with the Atessa system being one of the best on the market. After all, it did get the '89 GTR with only 280hp to 60 in 4.8 secs. Plus that car made it possible to do RWD drifts, by keeping it RWD when you had side G's. I don't think the X can do that though. I could be wrong.

awd system form the r34 skyline.... 50/50 on launch and low traction areas, to 0/100 for high speed straights....

ever played that wannabe gran turismo on xbox (racing forza, IIRC), when you choose gtr r34, it has a dynamic graph/meter of the torque split showing how power is being applied... i'd with gt3/gt4 had that on my view....

There are some good articles about it,:

http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:...lnk&cd=4&gl=us

Basically,

Normal start default is 25% Front, 75% rear. (Not 50:50), but
ECU adjust the from/rear split as fast as 1/100 of a second if slip is detected.
& could send 50% to the front if necessary.

Snow start, two things happen:
1, The default split is 50:50
2, the Throttle is reduced to cause a slower start.

For fast launch, one should not use the snow start.

This is the sytem used in AWD GTR, so be proud about it.

Look I'm new to the car and just want to learn more about the car dude. If you don't want to give good advice then just simply hit the back button on your browser and poof you don't have to, it's as easy as that. Anyways like I was saying I'm new to the car and site and just wanted to know more about these cars. I really don't think that's to much to ask and I thought this fourm was to teach those newbs like me some knowlegde about these cars. Thank you.
Well... In my business, RTFM means Read the Fuc*in* manual.

Yes the AWD system is great in snow (although this year I can't prove it). It is also great in rain and other slippery conditions. May be your friend thought he might have to put it in AWD manually at some point. The system makes these decisions better and a lot faster than we can.

I occasionally use the Snow button on starting out. On of the "problems" of the car is the large amount of power and this can cause you to slip with too vigorous acceleration. Heck, my 6-cyl 2002 Subaru wagon can do a little fishtail in snow if I mash the throttle hard.

Enjoy your purchase and tell your friend to reconsider!
