NAPA Gold filters in Calgary - not so cheap!

NAPA Gold Oil Filter (Maxima style), number 51356 at NAPA in Calgary:

Individual: $8.51, less 7% if you have an Alberta Motor Association membership, but add 6% GST so you’re looking at $8.39 apiece.

You can buy a case of 12, but it doesn’t get you any kind of deal. WTFIUWT?

Not sure what you are saying here? Retail prices from Napa in Canada are expensive? You should run the prices on that number shipped to Canada from the site.

ZACKLY what I'm saying, I will check out the price from other Cdn sources, but will certainly entertain ordering a case from fleet. If I find something good, I'll also post in the Cdn forum.

BTW. You don't have to order an entire case of 12. I ordered 6. But if you get a few Canadian guys to go in, you might save in shipping/duty (if there is a duty charge) if you order once. Also if you order more than $50, you get a 5% discount.

why does walmart have to stock em?

cause they tend to be cheaper than everyone else. I always have to make two stops for oil changes (one for walmart $22 5 quarts of mobil one and local auto store 13 bucks for M1 filter)

That's true. IMHO if you need an alternative oil filter, the Napa Gold aka wix is the one. You order a bunch from the link and then that reduces your trip to one store.Like I said before, the M1 is a nice filter. But it ain't 3x as nice! Plus you aren't stressing this filter at all if you are doing 3-4k oil changes.

FYI. The 5 gal container is nice as you can pour the old stuff back in and see how much oil was used. This is the 2nd time I've used about 1qt or less in a 3-4k change interval. Not bad.

NAPA Gold 1356 for me at most nearby NAPAs are $7.10-7.20 a piece...

OEM maxima filter runs me $7.50-7.80 a pop at most nissan dealerships ....

Money goes to the NAPA gold....

What is the advantage of running the 51356 Wix filter, is it just more media surface area?

Slightly bigger. And maybe just a smiggen' more oil capacity. I mean it's hardly worth mentioning. I wouldn't even worry about it but dang, the oem one for the G is frickin' t-i-n-y!

In the end though, since I go 3-4k, either one is totally fine. But for the same price, I just use the longer one

No kidding these things are tiny! I just picked up a couple WIX 51365's for my G and had to have the counter guy double-check it was the right one. I'm used to the big-a** ones off my old Chev pickups and such. I thought, this one is about the right size for a lawn mower!!

Then I looked up the applications...

INFINITI G35 V6 3.5L 3498cc
JOHN DEERE+Mowers 1420 w/Gas Engine
JOHN DEERE+Mowers 1435 w/Diesel Engine
JOHN DEERE+Mowers 2500A w/Diesel Engine
JOHN DEERE+Mowers 2653A w/Yanmar Diesel Engine
