Arghhhhhh...

***SEE POST#15 FOR CLEARER PICTURES***
As many of you are aware, we the north east coast got hit with a snow storm. Anyway, to make a long story short. I reversed back into a spot that someone dug themselves out this morning. I parked it too close and the door must have scrape onto the hard ice. It dented the lower section of the passenger front door under the door guard. The dent that is pushed in created a crease under it and the paint are basically flaking off . The snow/ice was as hard as a rock and when I back in, I didn't pay too much attention to the right side because usually when snow are soft it'll just push it away. I am soooo wrong!!! These are HARD ICE. Attached are the camera pics and sorry for the quality. Above where the paint are stripped, that part is pushed in. Any estimate as to how much this cost? Do I need a new door? Would dealer rape me for the price of a new door + installation?

That sucks! I feel your pain, I moved my car from the driveway to shovel the snow/ice of and in the process it slid sideways on the street while parking and curbed the front right rim. I am so pi$$ed @ myself for trying to park close to the curb instead of just jockeying the car around in the driveway.

Does dealers repaint doors? Above where the scratches are, the panel is pushed in a bit. That I can live with (I think) but with that area pushed in it created a crease and paint are flaking off which form the scrape and scratch paint. So I would definitely need the bottom portion under the door guard to be painted and if possible suck and pop the dented area out. Should I use touch up paint to seal the area for rust protection in the time being?

Anyone know of a good body shop place in New York (Queens or Long Island) area? Otherwise might just go to dealer to get an estimate.

Insurance will fix it.

Ice is a bitch. Lots of people have been driving around Kansas City with ice on the roofs of their cars, trucks, and tractor trailors. There have been numerous incidents of ice flying off cars and going through windshields, shattering $1,500 headlights, crushing bumpers, and denting oil pans. The stuff is dangerous.

If I claim it through Insurance (I have 500 deductible), wouldn't that jack up my insurance for next year?

Cleaned the door a bit and took some better pictures. I found out a portion of the area on top of the door guard is also pushed in.
