Question about y pipe after installing coupe middy
I was trying to install a coupe mid pipe on my sedan and one of the nuts was stripped. So I took it out to a mechanic shop and told him I was willing to pay him a couple of bucks just to take off the nut. Well he end up cutting the whole nut off along with the stud. So now I can only hold on the y pipe and mid pipe with one stud. So do you guys think that I should go to a specialty shop to get them to make a hole where the welded stud used to be? I figured that they would charge me about $50 or should I upgard to a aftermarket y pipe? Will a aftermarket y pipe help our sedan any?

In terms of a logic standpoint, whoever told you must be doing things thinking "outside the box"....
Most of users here report no gain from the coupe middy or rear section but do benefit from y-pipe (even though most of them back it off with a butt dyno).
Saying an aftermarket Y does nothing ~ there is no point in touching the catalytic-back exhaust

Have it drilled out and get a bolt and nut to tighten it back up. That would be your best buck.
I would say (butt dyno) that when I had a Y, I benefited from better flow at higher speeds and lost a little bit on the bottom end torque. I never dynoed it to get real numbers before and after though.
