as far as the antenna problem did you make sure to measure out the same length of wire as the orig antenna was?

My wife has a Touareg, so I know the key that you have. I actually thought it was an awesome key, but to be honest, it doesn't "wear" well for some reason...lots of wear and tear in a short time. Plus because we already had a VW key, I didn't want to get ours mixed up since we don't put keys on them.
I did measure the same length of wire...but its freaking spotty. It's really sensitive to direction and location. What type of wire did you use? I used a home stereo antenna wire.

If I was going to charge for doing this...I'd have to charge at least $150 + parts (probably $20) cost to make it worth the effort. It's a long tedious process and I can't see doing it for any less.

BTW - if anyone wants pointers...please let me know. If you're local, I can always come by to help you and share any tips....maybe you can help me solve the antenna problem

I understand what you mean RocketG35 I had a kid in my automotive class ask if I could make him one, once he saw mine I told him the same price (just because it is a real PITA) he was shocked and said he thought I would do it for 40 I just laughed and walked away
the wire I used was a really small single strand wire from a 12 pair cable bundle I had, it has a little stiffness to it and is small enough for the job
only thing I can think of about your problem is check to make sure there isn't anything that could short up against the wire, like any of the other wires of any of the solder if it is the conductive type, even the battery I made sure to use a piece of non-conductive material so that the battery doesn't touch any of the other electonic components on the board
hope this helps
