rocket, thanks for sending me the link you used. i have the intelikey fob dremelled out to fit the battery and the guts of my standard remote. i didn't have to cut it in half, but i do need to move the button location. when i look at the pics of yours and of accordfreaks and compare it to mine (06), the board is slightly different, and the rounting on the board has one or two differences also. anyway, i thnk i can figure it out, but i still need to know how you soldered such small wires into small holes. i'm afraid of shorting something out by soldering things together by accident. any tips?

To be honest, this was only the 2nd time I've ever soldered anything, and the first time for soldering anything this small and intricate.

I don't have a lot of tips to help you...I was just careful in how the solder formed onto the connections. I know that if your solder does not go in the right place, you can easily heat it up and remove it, thus eliminating the possibilty of shorting it. Believe me, this wasn't an easy job - not only are the holes in the circuit board small, but the connectors on those Mazda buttons were small too. Sorry, wish I could be more help.

Can you post pics of what you have currently done? I'd like to see the circuit board and how it differs. Does the 06 have buttons? My 03 had the circuit board with the plastic film that clicks when you push down.

This is awesome. I recently got a VW switchblade key and I am having problems with how to solder these 2 circuits together. TS, did you have to combine 2 circuits for this mod?

Is My Wiring Right.

Okay im pretty much done with the key...Went outside to test it out. When the battery connects to the chip the only thing that happens is The car alarm goes off like i pressed the panic button. If i keep the battery connected and deactivate the alarm with another fob, none of the buttons work on the modded one. But if i remove the battery and connect it back the alarm goes off again. This pic probably doesnt do much justice but anyway, help!

...A super detailed pic of the wiring of the trunk and panic button is what im really looking for. When u look at all the pics posted it seems as if they have the most going on as far as the wiring goes.

I apologize if this is out of line.

It looks like A LOT of work went into this andit also appears to be somewhat of a rare DIY - which makes me think that adds value to it.

But I am a little confused.

Have I got this right? You took your key and made it into a switchblade key?

My G doesn't require a key, I just sit down and turn the place where the key would go. And although I carry the fob, I NEVER use it - for anything!

So - what am I missing here?

Cheers (again, sorry if I'm out of line - but everyone seems to know what its about except for me).

And it does look like a lot of hard work. Enjoy it!!!

I like to have the key and remote separate so I can hide a remote or key under the car

it takes no where near 10hrs If you follow this DIY, its the soldering that takes the longest (if you dont have experience) But all in all i think its one of the mazda buttons that are faulty. Im re-doing the DIY from the ground up just to make sure, just have to figure out where to get another mazda button from.
