Same old story - wife backed into an SUV, leaving a lovely fist-sized indentation in the rear bumper, top corner.

Lots of you have successfully pushed out a dent by removing the bumper and heating it up. I'd love to try that, but need some help with the actual removal.

I'm pretty handy, but would love some advice or step-by-step instructions with the removal process. And is a hair dryer sufficient, or am I needing one of those heat guns (from Home Depot)?

Hey same with me just 2days ago...
I sat there and figered it out (
1. Take the plastic piece off, that holds the carpeting down when you do that make sure you pull up to take the piece off.
It should be rite in front of you when you open the trunk.
2. there should be there should be 6 pins holdin it down take those out
use a flat head to pop the senter piece,(not the hole thing)
3. there should be 4 screws holding the taillight in remove the taillights
when you remove the taillight there should be a pin holding your bumper there are 1 on each side.
4. go back in side your trunk and look at the taillight area close to the fender there should be 3 GOLD bolt take those off. there should be 3 on each side.
5. there is a pin at the bottom off the bumper take that off and your bumper is free.
6. your bumper is cliped in towards the middle there is 3 I belive put your hand close to is and grip and pull.and that should be it....
bumper off and "POP" den out. Have fun....

ya my friend just told me about some body shops use heat gun on the inside and mold it back, then bondle and paint.... I hate useing bondle so im just goin to take it to shop and let them finish it up.

I did the whole thing in about 3 hours. Could have been shorter if I'd had some more proper tools.

Sure beats taking it to the shop!

One last bit of advice, dont forget about the trunk release and license plate light. Need to unbolt both those guys, 2 screws for the light and 3 bolts for the trunk release. Oh there were 4 clips on mine, (06) and i broke 2 of them taking it off, anyone have a better description on how to get those sucker off?

Didnt have a heat gun, but had a camp stove handy.. wife looked at me funny when she got home, me on the garage floor in a beach chair, bbqing the bumper on a sat night.

 

Ya that part is tricky... You have to put your hand close to it and then pull,or else you end up braking the clips off... sorry about that.
