Car sitting for winter
Car sitting for winter
Hi everyone! Question for all of you. I will not be driving my g this winter, It will be parked in the driveway. I was wondering if there is anything I should do under the car to help prevent rusting while not being driven.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Car sitting for winter
i currently only drive my G on occassional weekdays, on weekends, and only when it is not raining or with wet roads.
i'm sure you there will be winter days with dry roads.
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

Re: Car sitting for winter
I intend to only drive mine on relatively nice days too this winter, but I think it is important to at least drive it once or twice a week to keep it operating properly. After last winter here in Indianapolis, I decided to lease a 4x4 to handle all of the bad days and for general hauling purposes.

And when you do drive it, make sure you turn on the A/C (with heat if you need to) every now and then. Let the freon cycle in the system and keep everything lubricated, or you may wind up having to have your A/C repaired in the spring from lack of use.
You don't even really need to drive the car around, just turn it on and let it idle for 15-20 minutes or so to get up to operating temperature and burn off excess crud in the oil. Also keeps the battery from draining over the winter.
