Question Your Tire Fitment and Opinion Requested

Time for new tires on my '03 G35 AT sedan, bone-stock.

Using the Tire Rack's classifications, tires in the high/max/ultra perfomance summer category either don't come close to fitting or are just too damned expensive.

So I'm shopping in the high performance all season category and the Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position is tops.

It does not come in 215-55/17 which is my stock size, but as you can see by the specs lifted from the Bridgestone site, the 235-50/17 size is really, really close.

Will the extra .6" (six-tenths of an inch) of section width cause any fitment problems? Tires to be mounted on Infiniti OEM 5-spoke 17" wheels from a 6MT sedan.

Specs from the Bridgestone web site
Stock Turanza EL-42 215-55/17
Revolutions Per Mile: 789
Diameter: 26.4"
Section Width: 8.9"
Tread Width: 6.9"

Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position 235-50/17
Revolutions Per Mile: 792
Diameter: 26.3"
Section Width: 9.5"
Tread Width: 7.7"

235/50 will fit and that is also my intention when I need to change mine. There are members here have that size and Tirerack also recommended it as an option for our 7" width rims.

Go for it I don't understand why nissan puts weird tire sizes on their cars.

I think it would look bulged out from the rim a bit...

Yeah it will but still provide a better contact patch and traction.

I have seen 245/245's on the stockers and they looked fine. a Little roundness to the side wall but nothing really looked out of place.

Definitely go with the 235/50/17's. They will fit, plus you get a wider selection of tires in that size.

Let me help you with that. They do it so you can return to them to purchase a tire at $5,000,000 each.
