Re: G35 vs. Mustang GT
Of course, you've all heard the joke:
"What do you call 4 Aztecs at a dealership?".......

Re: G35 vs. Mustang GT
nah.. the 2004 max and focus aren't comparable.. i'd still choose the max over the focus any day..

Back to the topic...
The GT makes 300lbft of torque. The G sedan- 260lbft.
Doesn't the G take over 7 seconds to hit 60mph? The GT can do it under 6... not much of a comparison.
This implys the G is an automatic and the GT is a 5 speed.
My wife in her G thought she could take me in my Bullitt from a stoplight. Ha!!

more like low 6's.. and that's AT.. i would imagine 6 or high 5's in the manual.. for having 260 ft-lbs of torque compared to the 300 of the GT, that's pretty darn good... esp. for a car that i think that's lacking in low end torque as compared to its high end..

What I look at is this...
Ford has a 4.6l V8 that gets 260HP/302lb-ft with 2 valves/cyl.
With 4 valves/cyl they get 305HP/320lb-ft
Infiniti's 4.5l V8 gets 340HP/333lb-ft (or a measly 315HP/329lb-ft in some models)
Ford's 3.8l V6 only gets 193HP/225lb-ft compared to Infiniti's 3.5l getting anywhere from 245HP/246lb-ft(Altima) up to 287HP/274lb-ft(350Z).
If you really want to compare a V8 manual to a G35, use the G35 6MT coupe. If you want to compare a Ford product to the G35 Sedan, find a Taurus SHO or an SVT Contour to play with.
Maybe some day the American companies will catch up to the engine technology in Japan and Europe. In the mean time, I guess they'll get by on there ain't no substitute for cubic inches.
