So I just bought a used '03 G35 Sedan and not six hours (i wish i were exagerrating) after taking it home, the navigation system starts constantly showing a "Door Open" warning. The door sensor on the dashboard wasn't lit and I went around and firmly closed each door three more times, and it still says door open. It always kicks in when the car starts moving, when it stops, it goes to the default screen. Not off to a good start here. Since it is a used '03, it is not under warranty. Anything I can do?

 

Did you check the trunk? Mine was showing the door open warning the other day because I had not shut the trunk all the way.

 

I thought of that, but since I havent yet had the car 24 hours I havent used the trunk!

 

I figured you had already addressed it. I opened and closed all my doors several times before I figured out it was my trunk. I was just hoping someone else was as dimwitted as I am.

 

yeah, well not 'using' the trunk and accidentally hitting the trunk button on your remote, or the trunk release from inside the car can get bumped when 'exploring' your new car for the first time... dbl check the trunk.

you mentioned you 'thought' of that, gonna go for the gold here and ask, DID you actually verify the trunk was shut?

sometime your key will pop it up
maybe in ur pocket while u sit and ill just click it open
it is your trunk.

 

That door open warning has one little problem... If your trunk is open, that's the only door that doesn't actually show on the nav display. If any other door is open, the display shows which one. So, if it says a door is open but the picture doesn't show you which door - it's the trunk.
