Okay I know most of you have heard of the richie bar and probably own one too and I know I am not the only one that wanted to have it black. I have tried to clean up the surface and just paint, but failed the first itme as the paint will not stick to the bar! I tried the second time today after sanding off the first layer of paint and the silver layer on the richie bar. I basically sanded down to bare aluminum and it was as smooth as a baby's *** . Here are some pix as it was hanging dry, I wish I would've taken the pictures of the sanded bar, it looks very nice and smooth. I used duplicolor engine enamel with ceramic in gloss black. $5 for the can and $3 for sandpapers, the result came out very nice! Be sure to use light coats as engine enamel are very thick! I used 150 grit to strip the layer of the aluminum and then I used the finest grit in the (variety pack) I am not sure how many grit that was. The aluminum bar will start looking shiny and thats when you know that is the layer underneath.

mounts just required some rubbing alcohol to strip all the oil and grease

Very nice. I used the same paint but semi-gloss on the sides of mine when I did the CF. Great work.
