From what I can tell, it looks like the K&N part number for the filter that comes with the Stillen intake is RC-2960.

The shortest Amsoil cone filter is 6.5 in. so if I have the K&N part number right I don't think it will fit in the Stillen airbox. I guess I will just have to measure the Stillen filter when I get home to be sure.

If anyone has measurements for the Stillen airfilter (or Popcharger airfilter) please chime in. I am just going by memory at this point.

That's true, I do like the dry type way better. If it was for maintenance reasons I agree. My comment was aimed toward power gains only.

just go on the site and get a consumer membership and you get good discounts and shipping is reasonable. If you order the filter and oil in the course of a year it more than pays for itself. I have been using their stuff since the late 90s and would never use anything else. Top notch quality and service. Their new oil filters are amazing.

I was putting my my Richie strut bar so I dug around my intake. Yeah there's hardly any room in front of the K&N cone. You could fit the Amsoil but I think the end of the cone would hit against the airbox. It's flexible so I'm sure you could coax it on there. Or you would have to cut the front of the stillen airbox away. At least some of it.
The other idea is to cut down the flange where it clamps on the stillen velocity stack. But I think we would only gain maybe 1/4" at most.

So I was thinking of doing this exact same thing (buy the Stillen HFA, replace the K&N with the Amsoil Nanofiber). Does anyone actually know the part # for the K&N filter that comes with the Stillen box? I checked out jameyb's link (http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RC-2960) and then compared it to Amsoil's datasheet on the 3050 (https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx) which everybody seems to agree is the right cross-over.
But there's a lot of confusion here if those are in fact the correct two filters. For one thing, the media height is the same for both at 5.0 in., which would lead me to believe that if the K&N fits without rubbing the front of the airbox, then the Amsoil should too. The base diameter of the Amsoil is also an 1 1/2" shorter than the K&N (7.5 vs. 6.0), so it doesn't seem like width should be an issue either. But even if the Amsoil fits, will it perform the same or even fit at all, given the other size differences between the two filters?
I have doubts that the RC-2960 is the correct filter, especially since the Amsoil datasheet lists the K&N cross-over for the 3050 as RU-3570, not RC-2960. But then again, if the 3050 is NOT the correct Amsoil filter, then the whole argument is up in the air.
Anybody have hard measurements on the K&N, or direct experience with installing and using the Amsoil? Seriously considering just keeping the K&N - oiling the filter can't be as much trouble as trying to find the correct damn part number...
