inaccurate speedo

I was watching the local news and saw that there is a class action suit against Honda for the speedos reading inaccurate. The speedos roll up faster affecting the warranty and lease contracts.
Well anyways they did a test and showed Nissan does the same thing and a suit will also be filed.
Have anyone else heard of this or noticed the problem...

Are you talking about the speedometer or odometer?

i actually brought my car in because of that issue. . .i just noticed driving down the road, the miles were adding up quicker than i'd imagine i've driven. INfiniti dealership did'nt have an explanation (obviously), and i just shrugged my shoudlers and figure it was all in my head. . .maybe i wasn't crazy!!

My last nissan, a 2.5 Altima would display about 2mph over what it was actually going (I think this was at 60mph). This was confirmed by several members on altimas.net via dyno's but no one ever did anything about it. I don't know if the extra mph had any effect on the odometer though.

We are not talking about the speedo reading high, we are talking about the odometer adding miles too fast vs how far you have gone. Yes if your speedo reads high the same thing will happen.

My speedo is almost spot on, even with the 20's. I am only ~0.4% off and all the police radars on the sides of the road read what my speedo says. That does not mean that my odometer is right. I will test it one of these days.

On my 05 G35X my speedo and odometer were quite accurate when I compared them to my Garmin GPS over a long trip. So I know there was no problem with that one.

On my 07X I checked them, and my speedo and odometer were out a bit even though I was running the same size winters as original tires. I will check it again sometime to see what the error is.

I heard about the Honda Civic thing not too long ago. With my new setup, my speedo is off ~1-1.5% in my favor....but that's like an extra 10 miles for every 1000...and it's not like I lease my car...

Hmm, maybe I'm not getting 9mpg after all lmao

Oh wait, wouldn't that work the other way around... ah yes, so I'm actually getting like 5 mpg. NAICE!

you sure it's honda? There is a huge class action suit against GM for their speedo's that was just filed recently (affection nearly around 1 million of their cars), in the news a week ago.
