Excuse me.......

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, the '05 - '06 is the second generation G35, there were enough changes in the design and engine output to earn that, having owned and '04 then the '05, I found many things different in the entire car, the front end, the tail lights, 20 more horespower, better brakes, nicer interior, the real aluminum is nice, and if you park an '05 next to an '04 you can see the differences easily, just my .02 cents!

Well put Tom

I agree. To us who have owned and been tracking the G's for years, we can easily see the differences as they stick out. And now with the 07's, there are alot of other changes.

thoughtful ideas but they consider another generation a totally new car basically

20 hp... LOL Show me the dynos.

03/04 > 05/06 I like the oem front end better, but the nismo front end trumps all.
03/04 > 05/06 I like the older headlights better.
03/04 > 05/06 I like the Ti trim better than the Al because of the way it wraps around.
03/04 < 05/06 I like the gauges on the newer ones better.
03/04 > 05/06 I like the hood better with the mini-cowl over the single line newer one
03/04 < 05/06 Tail lights... nuf said

All car manufacturers make some changes over the life of a model. I don't think it is enough to be called a second generation.

Of course the '07 has some major changes, but I liked the '05 so much more than my '04 with the changes, also, lets not forget the electric tilt/telescoping wheel, I hated that large handle for the tilt on my '04, never did work right, Intelligent key, let's see..........

I see your point there but most of the changes between 03/04 and 05/06 were minor. The first major redesign of the whole car was with the '07. Think of it this way - can people who don't know the cars very well tell the difference between one and the other. That will tell you if it really counts as a new generation.

Well, lets get hyper technical. What about the 03.0 to 03.5 changes? There were ton.

So we're on the 4th gen?

From my experience Cheryl, people who don't know the cars very well can't even tell the difference between the '07 and earlier models. Yes, the changes were minor compared to the '07, but I remember when I saw an '05 at the auto show here, I wanted one, the appearance of the car without the black valence panels made it look shorter, I still like the way my '05 looks even compared to the '07. You guys had both as well, so you see my point. Oh, I like your choice for the '07, that color combo looks great!

True, but not to the extent of the '05. I couldn't tell the difference between the '03 to the '03.5 except for the doggie door deck lid. After driving an '05 for one day, I decided to trade up. The brakes were a huge improvement as I already mentioned, LOL, just having clean wheels made it a new gen for me!

i like the 05-06 better than the 07. i purchased my 06 liquid platinum sedan, that was sitting next to an 07 dark blue one. i just like it better i am not sold on the front end of the 07.

Well most everyone we knew had no idea what the differences were with our cars and they looked at me like I was crazy when I started pointing out the differences (that I noticed such things). Well if you put the '06 and before beside the '07, it is obvious what the differences are. That's mainly my point.

Thanks about the car. I'm so excited I can hardly wait. I just wish it would hurry up and get here.

I have an 04 6MT and recently had an 06 X as a loaner car...Materials and performance-wise, I personally didn't think there was much in terms of "upgrades" from my '04 to the 06 X. Of course, that could be because my 04 is all optioned out and the X was as base as you can get, plus I'm biased towards the 6MT...I do like the interior clock on the 06 more, and I do like the 05-06 taillights more too--thus I have a set of tails on the way...

I traded up from a 2003.5 to a 2006 and I have to say although there is not a huge difference, the small things get noticed. Both of my Gs were Premium/Sport and the 2006 just seems to be more of a luxury car to me. Intelligent key, power tilt/telescoping wheel, Bluetooth, heated mirrors and seats (although I live in Florida, go scuba diving in December at a spring and you'll love the seats on the ride home), more scratch resistant plastic on the center console and instrument cowling (the titanium trim in my 2003 was showing it's age and I'm an **** SOB), dash of one texture (that door insert texture on the 'mid-dash' always bothered me), metal door latches (the plastic just seemed so out of place on a $30k car, the aluminum on the console; these 'little' things just make it seem to be a nicer car to me. But, I know, that's just my opinion. And to clarify, I did not leave my 2003.5 because of the above items. It spent 3 months in the body shop after a wreck and rattled like an old Chevy Cavalier. That, and the Caribbean Blue was a shade darker on the rear, and the seats were stone instead of willow (from the dirt). My 2006 is a DG with a black interior. It never hurts to hedge your bets.

That's my reaction to the changes as well, it is more luxury feeling from the '03-'04
