In some cases, the local shop doesn't have exactly what you want anyways. Then they tell you they can "custom order" it for you. Guess where they go to order it...that's right - they go shop online. So why go through a middle man?

If it's money your concerned about, 99% of the time you will find it cheaper online.

One example. I bought tires at my local shop because I wanted to road hazzard warranty since I commute so much with my G. Looking back now, I think I am going to just get my tires online....if my local shop will let me purchase warranties for the tires as I have heard some do (Americas Tires?).

So yeah, depends on the parts.

I try to get local quotes but out of state almost always does better because of the tax.

I get more stuff off here and my350z than anywhere else.

Street Image (local shop) has been getting the majority of my business lately.

Most of the time you can find it for less from a vendor on here or my350z so you get the better price and know what you are getting.

Online seems to be cheaper due to taxs and most local shops still have to order it so i would rather just do it from home! But buy getting it local the wife doesnt have to see the cost!

Online vs Local Shop.........

Like most of you have said "it depends on what your buying!" After the
local Kragen A/P store tried to charge me $18 for an oilfilter I went on line
and found them for $8 and change with free shiping if I spent $20 or more.
So guess what I bought 3 K&N filters for slightly more than Kragen was
going to charge me for 1........I'll never shop there again....screw Kragen.
