Should I be worried??

I have a buddy that has a '02 Nissan Altima 3.5L with a CAI and exhaust(Stillen I believe). He is very confident that his car will keep up with mine if not beat it. He also thinks that our motors are identical. I really don't want to race him, but what should I tell him??

The motors are pretty much identical. There is some tuning difference from the 02 and 06 models though. Our cars are a lot havier. Considering that you have an X, and it's a G which means we have power EVERYTHING, all those little things add up. The only reason he wins is due to weight difference.

FWD vs RWD power train loss with identical engines and the Altima weighing less, its gonna beat you good. The 3.5s are consistent in 1/4 times with the G.

Take it to the track and find out...If he's 5-speed and can drive it well, it'll be close, or he wins. Auto vs. auto, I don't know--you might come out on top there; the auto Altima is much slower than it's 5-speed counterpart. But the best way to know is go race him....Disclaimer: "I in no way condone street racing..." Good luck...

Wink

If it really bothers you, it might be possible for you to find somebody foolish enough to trade you an 02 Alti for your 06 G35X. I would!

I'm trying to remember if the 02's have the 4speed. If thats the case you might have a good chance. The newer auto 5speeds are very close in 1/4 times.

If the Altima is auto, it's the 4 speed and you will win, if it's manual it will be a driver's race. I had an 02 Altima auto and it ran 15.0 stock.

You sure that SE-R was stock? Because they are the same speed as the regular 3.5 Altima.

Stock exhaust and couldn't hear any intake so I assumed it was stock and the new altima ser is pretty quick. Either way he took by a car length.
