Interesting situation...

Stopped by the dealer on appointment to pay for a GSedan (Leather, Sport). Did the exterior inspection and noticed the corner of the right rear bumper had some black spots underneath the clear coat. Closer inspection with my fingers and there is a ripple with paint cracking. Guess it got bashed a bit. Needless to say, I left without my G.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and he said they would replace the bumper and knockoff $400 ($100 over invoice). Problem I have is that this was a swapped car with another dealership and the current dealer didn't know it was damaged. Anybody think I should stay away from this one? Is there a chance that there are other problems with it and the original dealer pulled a fast one? It's the only one in this config on the lot.

The current dealer was very honest and has been very upfront so far (at least from what I can tell). Opinions before 5pm would be great.

The only thing I could see being a problem is if it was the demo model that everyone drove. Ask what the odometer says and if it's under 30 or 40 just take it....it should all be covered under warrenty and your dealer knows now that something might be going on and will take that into consideration if there are any future problems.

If it were me, I'd take it since it sounds like you have a good relationship with your dealer. Plus, it sounds like you're getting a great deal. But, if the thought of that damaged bumper is going linger in your head, wait for a G that's perfect, in and out. Waiting a little bit longer may be worth the peace of mind.

Hey, thanks for the tips. I didn't think of the odometer check until after I posted, but that's a good one. I was also thinking of requesting to have a look at it on a rack.

Than again...if you wait for a brand new one..they might not give it too u at that price..so check the odometer and have them replace the bumper and ur set..and remember to recheck the car again, the whole car again in daylight...

Had the same problem with my rear bumper being damaged from delivery, but did not get a deal like you. They did replace my bumper with another G the same color. Make sure the bumper is painted by the factory to match the color, and the quality of the original paint. I am satisfied with the bumper exchange. Good luck. You got a sweet deal.
