My last trip to the casino paid for my new Nismo cai. Blackjack is the way to go.

Ah...excuse me, CRAPS is THE game...at least as far as I'm concerned:>)

Dropped blackjack like a bad habit once I learned craps many years ago. Love the game!

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Why would you hit on a A/6 when dealer is showing a 5?

The only cards that can increase your score is A,2,3,4 and even though 10,J,K,Q doesn't hurt you it doesn't help either. All you've done is eat a card. Plus, if you get a 5,6,7,8 or 9 you've successfully lowered the value of your hand. You know the dealer has to hit so why not just stand and see what happens?

Of course I've seen it go both ways, I've hit on that combo before can come up with a 4 but you said statistically you *should* hit and everyone looked at you like you were crazy. That doesnt' make sense to me.

Craps does have the highest odds of winning - 49.6%
My math teacher in HS once spent a quarter on statistics and we studied casino games.

The fancy-schmancy part was funny. Also of interest is that, even if it was posted, it's on private property. Speed limit signs and stop signs in parking lots are not enforceable. However, if you get into a wreck for running a parking lot stop sign, you'd probably lose a civil court battle if you tried to fight it.

I don't think a real cop would stop you for going 20 in a 15mph school zone.

I totally forgot to pull that out, ryoken! I actually made a cop look like a total idiot once when he stopped me for "rolling" through a stop sign in a visibly empty parking lot (we're talking like 2mph, not 10). I then was approaching a red light, and going into the left turn lane. Seeing as I'd lived there for a while, I knew the timing, I knew it was about to turn green, so I slowed but not to a stop. I entered the intersection at a roll about half a second after the light turned green. Cop pulls me over and says "We stop for stop signs here." I told him it was on private property, so technically not enforceable. He said "well, we also stop for red lights." Again, "I entered the intersection only after the light turned green." I waited a beat, looked at him and said "I'm sorry, have done anything illegal here, or can I go?" He just walked back to his car and didn't say a word, so I drove off... silly power-hungry badge jockeys.

I'll have to check out the craps table. Ive read up on the stats/rules of it, just never gotten into it.

Re: Actual conversation from last night

I too have a funny casino story. I was leaving the local tribal casino one night after winning a sizable amount of money. Normally I just walk right out to my car but due to the number of people who were staring at me, I felt a little nervous and asked for a security escort. She walks me out the door and there's a security car sitting there. I step in and thank the guy for driving me. He asks me what I'm driving, I answer "the Infiniti...". He cuts me off and says "the G35? Silver? Sedan? in the outer lot by itself parked next to the curb? 6MT with Nav?" I started laughing and said, how'd you know? He goes, "I keep track of all the nice looking cars...". He then said that all the security cards know of my car and how obsessively far away I park. It was hilarious. And I also found out that they do not accept tips.

FYI. On a side note, Baccarat is the best casino game. There's a reason why high rollers in Vegas are willing to bet $100k a hand. And it's the game of choice for 007.

007 also favored his martinis shaken not stirred, which is the incorrect way to make the libation...Stirring eliminates the possibility of ice shards braking off of the ice cubes when shaking...Not great to have bits of ice floating around in a martini...So it seems that not everything Mr. Bond does is correct

Geo and I have, however, taken an interest in learning Baccarat...I'm just not a big fan of gambling

You should never hit on a soft 17 if dealer's showing 5. You should double down baby.

SnM- If I recall correctly, when I asked "do you know why you should not shake a martini?" you said "Actually, no." Now you pass on my knowledge or random facts as your own. Tsk, tsk young man Kidding.

I really do want to learn Baccarat... perhaps one day I'll take some initiative and do it. In fact, I'll do it now... right after I finish this book.

It's not rude when the house takes your money. I bet the Pit boss wouldn't have come up to tell you that you are rude if he (the house) took your money.

Yeah, I've tried almost everything except Poker and I can say that betting on the outside of a Roulette wheel and Baccarat are the only two Casino games where you could possibly win every single hand. Except in Roulette, you have 0 and 00 which will kill you. In Baccarat, there is no such thing. If you're lucky, you can win every hand you play unlike in Blackjack where if someone decides to hit/not hit it can affect the game. Or you can sit there in Blackjack and watch as the dealer takes your money since they have Blackjack and you didn't even have time to even think about hitting or not.

Baccarat is the game to play, trust me.

In California, If you are on private property that is open to the general public (malls, shopping centers), Police can enforce traffic laws. It just sounds like he was new, not power hungry.

If I thought you violated the law, I would have written the ticket, and let the judge sort it out. You don't hold court in the street.
