Actual conversation from last night

"Can I see your license, son?"
"Yes sir."
"Did you know you were going 20 miles an hour? The speed limit on the casino's property is 15."
"I'm sorry sir. Where was it posted? I guess I didn't see it..."
"You didn't drive by the sign, but it's our policy"
"Ah, I see, sir. I should've known."
"Now, if you don't want your fancy-schmancy car taken away from you, I'd slow down." *Hands back license*
"Sorry sir. I didn't realize rental security agencies were able to confiscate luxury cars for violating non-posted rules. Thank you, sir."
*incredulous look from rent-a-cop*

Re: Actual conversation from last night

How exactly were you supposed to know the speed limit if you didn’t drive by the sign? Were you leaving? If so, maybe they were sore that you didn’t drop enough $ in their casino…I think someone was either bored or jealous

Lol, that's pretty funny, having radar set up in a parking lot! Or was he guessing?

Re: Actual conversation from last night

He said he was guessing. I asked exactly how fast I was going, and he said "Probably about 20. I know 15 when I see it." I was actually coming IN to the casino. I thought "Wow... what good customer service. Let's harass the ONE guy in the parking lot at 3am. THAT will make us $$!" Jokes on them, though, I won every hand of blackjack I played in my patented "drive-by-blackjack" technique.

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Is that anything like drive-by-roulette?

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Sorry- I know this went off topic, but the crux of the post was the "fancy schmancy car" part. He apparently loved the G Sedan. Gotta love it in black *drool*

I'm not sure about the DB Roulette. I basically go up to the dealer, throw some cash on there and play a money bet. I only play hand, and I ignore the laws of statistics. ie. last night I got dealt a 6 and an Ace. The dealer showed a 5. Now, statistically speaking, you should take a hit. I said "no." Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. The dealer showed his card- a queen. He took a hit; a ten. I would've had 17 anyway if I'd taken a hit. Then he turned over the next card as he dealt the next hand, and it was a 6. If I'd taken a hit, he would've gotten blackjack. I saved their butts, HAHA. I collect my chips and cash, and walk away. The end. So far I've not lost a single hand that way... *knocking on wood*

I only bet what I'm willing to lose on the evening, usually 20-100... easy way to double your money or lose it as you budgeted.

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Yep, DBR is similar. Walk by, put money on the outside and see where it lands. Either take the money or just walk away.

Back on topic, it’s always nice to get a compliment about the G!

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Alot of blackjack players get really pissed off when people walk up and interrupt a shoe to play one bet and then walk away. Not that you probably really care anyway, but in the players handbook it is considered rude to do so. If you are trying to play only one hand and walk, you might try to find an empty table if one is available. As you are probably aware, many casino goers are quite superstitious, as it appears you are with your one hand and walk practice.

I did that in Reno one time and the pit boss actually stopped me on my way out to tell me it was rude. The funny thing was there was no one at the table I won at.

Re: Actual conversation from last night

I wonder if it’s cause you’re less likely to tip the dealer…

I'm not so sure about fancy, but it's definitely schmancy!

Re: Actual conversation from last night

Sorry- didn't mention this: I always ask if anyone minds if I join in for one hand. I hate it when people join unasked, as well. Even when I'm going to sit for a while, I ask, especially if there's only one person at the table.

Oh- and PS, I always tip my dealer, and very well. Dealers and cocktail waitresses do pretty well if I'm in a good mood

"fancy schmancy".... did he say that with a German accent like Martin Short in one of those Father of the Bride movies? : )
