Has anyone seen information on offering all wheel drive on the 2004 G35? I had seen something about this and that iit would be available in April 2003; as a 2004 model.

Re: all wheel drive

uh.. no. I think you might have gotten some very incorrect information. if nissan was thinking of bring in awd, it wouldn't come out as soon as april of this year. The only new production is for the 6MT.

Re: all wheel drive

Actually, there will be a AWD but, it will come in the form of the migthy Skyline GTR which it should come out in 2004 as a 2005 model. This will be a Twin Turbo version of the G35 with the same engine & chasis. The horsepower should be somewhere near between 440 & 480. It will have a differennt body than the G35 sedan & coupe. Have some pictures, wanna see. This beauty should be priced somewhere in the 60's. All hail the Skyline GTR!

Re: all wheel drive

I seriously doubt the Skyline GTR will come to our shores... 10 to 1 it will be only for the Asian/Europeon Market.. Would be cool if it did tho... not that I could afford it

Re: all wheel drive

Well, many say that the future skyline gt-r35 will come to america, but have you looked at that thing! IMO it looks way to futuristic. The current r34 looks much better. They have concept pictures at www.nissannews.com. IMO UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: all wheel drive

the future Skyline and future GT-R are two completely different vehicles..... Nissan officially divided the two cars so one can serve the luxury market while the other will be performance.... that's why the GT-R concept retained the four round lights while the skyline didn't....

Re: all wheel drive

No, it is actually the same car. The Skyline GTR and The Skyline is the same car. Yes, it has a different body but bottom line it is the same engine and chasis. In Japan they do not have a Infiniti, they only have Nissan. The G35 = Skyline sedan , the G35 coupe = is the Skyline , soon the GTR will be in the States. I have read it on several magazines. If anyone wants to see the new Skyline GTR log on to jbskyline.net

Re: all wheel drive

actually i believe in all likelihood that there will me a non-GTR version of the 4wd g35 available. i think that there is a version in japan right now. i can't read japanese, but you can clearly note that there is a <a href="http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLINE/V35/0301/MECHA/index.html">4wd version</a>.

Re: all wheel drive

oh that's what you meant.... hmmm, but your defination, the altima and the new maxima are the same car as well since they share the engine and the same platform??? (come to think of it, most of Nissan/Infiniti cars use one version of the VQ or another right now...) yeah I've heard that the cars will have similar structures.... what I meant was that these two brands names (skyline and GT-R) will be separated to be marketed differently.... like what they are doing with the Cedric and Gloria sedans.... two cars that are almost identical but marketed toward a different set of customers.... another example would be the Chaser/Mach I/Cresta combo of Toyota......

and the 4wd system is only hooked up to the weakest of the engines i.e the 2.5 liter VQ... the car is called 250GT-4 and it's only availible in the sedan form..... maybe that's another tactic to differentiate the two models (GT-R and skyline)....
I could care less about the 4wd but I really wanted the CVT offered on the 350GT-8.... <sigh>.... we don't get anything fun.....

Re: all wheel drive

wow, it's a shame that the 4wd will only come in the 2.5 flavor. are you reading this from the site, or was this documented somehwere else? i really wanted to trade my 2003 for an equivalent 4wd... i guess one can only hope.

Re: all wheel drive

There is still speculation that all Infiniti's (including the G35) will be available with all wheel drive at some point in the near future. IT may be an option on cars in the upcoming model years. As for the GT-R, there is definite speculation it will be here in the states the next time it comes out. Look for it around 2005 or 2006.

Re: all wheel drive

hey....from what i've been hearing is that the 2004 model will have the option of the attesa-ets awd system that was featured on the skylines and now on the new fx35 and fx45's...i've been hearing september of this year as a target date....but who actually knows. as for the true skyline GTR-like model with the turbos and the rest of the performance parts....we're prolly looking at 2005 or 2006...but this is also all just rumors until nissan corporate gives the official word on it

Re: all wheel drive

do you guys think it's in nissan's best interest to be releasing so many versions of this car so soon? i can see how they're trying to market to different ppl, but i would think you'd want to build the attraction to this car and then bust out with all these new trim levels and options that will suck in those ppl that were on the fence just looking for the right reasons to jump on over..

Re: all wheel drive

well, i think it's kind of dumb that they are releasing the manual sedan seperately. but as far as so many versions, well when m6sedan comes out, it will only be a 5at/m6 for both sedan and coupe.

i would have liked to have seen a 4wd/awd version available, this way i wouldn't have even considered a german car (bmw/audi). imho, they should have released a 4wd version in the very beginning, this would have thrown sales through the roof (not that it's not amazing as is).
