Vibrating Over 80mph
#31
I had the same problem with the caddy- it was the tie rod ends that apparently just got too beat up from bad potholes in Boston. In my case it caused a lot of clatter over bumps but it wasn't a safety issue. Thank God I didn't fix it right away because the car got totalled shortly after that- problem solved.

worn tierods will make your car pull to side or vibrate. when the car is on the lift the mechanic can check if you need tierods.
the tierods need an alignment after install. so do those before alignment.

yeah my outter got messed up on a pot hole. but if your car vinrates at high speed only and you balanced your tires, try alignment first and then get the tierods if it still vibrates, TOWNFAIR tire told me the tierods are bad and if i replaced with in 30 days they would give me an alignment for free.
no more vibrating for me..

Guys, my maxima was doing the same thing, I took it in to the dealer they keep tellin me, " they cant find anything wrong, I took one of the managers with me for a test drive after 80 its really noticable. my 2 front rims are bent =] they tried aligning it as much as they can, and put them in the back or seperated them . cause Nissan doesnt cover rims just like every other company i just had to pay like 40-50 bux for the alignment tho. much better now. Rotors will make the vibration mostly if u get on the break other then that. they shouldnt vibrate too much

look just because you got it balanced doesnt mean you got it balanced WELL (im a tire shop owner) they balanced it well enough to where you cant notice it at slow speeds but its off just enough to where it vibrates at higher speeds sometimes itll be bad eough to where itll happen at 45 sometimes at 35 but you got a ok balance but off just a tad...i balance my own tires and can go 150 without a single tiny vibration

i have the same problem at 120km/hr, they said theres a defect with the tires, and that the fronts are cupped badly. I checked and sure enough both insides of the fronts are cupped... 35k on them. They are replacing the front tires for free today as i just bought the car a month ago.... Hoping for the best. Great thread though in case this doesn't work, i will know what to look at next.

damnit my car is vibrating this morning tooo!! WTF
recently my front driver side tire was really low. i pumped it up. this morning it looked kinda low again so i fill up more air. i didnt have a gauge on me so i did it by eye. when i hit the freeway, it started vibrating around 80 mph.
do you guys think this is a simple over-inflated tire problem??
thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem. Vibration at around 80MPH. I went to the dealer and they replaced "rear propeller shaft" assembly. I will look up the part number when I get home. It eliminated most of the vibration, however the car still vibrates but at much higher speeds. If you ask me I think it is a flaw in wheel hub bearings, so I am just going to wait till one of them goes bad to get it replaced under warranty. For winter I am driving on stock rims. When I had my 19" rims on, the car was vibrating much worse. Hence the idea about the hub bearings. Plus, I spent a crazy amount of money on balancing and know for sure it has nothing to do with the rims.
