All, I have owned the G for about a week now. What I have noticed the last few days is that when the car is parked for a while, say an hour or so, when I put it in reverse to back out of a spot and then put it in drive I notice a loud creaking sound. Not sure if it's coming from the back or front. BTW, this only happens once. It doesn't happen again until the next time I park my car.

I took it into the dealer today and they say it's probably your ABS. Could that be correct? Wow, if it's the ABS that's pretty loud, none of my other cars with ABS did that.

 

Like the dealer says, it's prolly the ABS doing it's self test.
There's a chapter in the owner's manual describing this phenomenon. (chapter 5 page 20)

Mine makes no such sound, I wonder if it's just a "new" sound this car is pretty tight!!

I have the same sound-its the ABS test. Neighbor works at Toyota and they do the same thing.

Thanks for all the feedback. That's a pretty loud self test IMHO. However, I don't mind it because I enjoy the car so much.
