how to disable AWD?

i pulled AWD fuse and the front tires still move on the dyno(it doesnt move alot, but it does start to roll slowely. is there another fuse that i have to pull also to disable the frontwheels? just want to make runs of AWD vs RWD mode in my car, to see how much power i lose through the drivetrain in AWD mode.

From what I know it is still a physical connection so they will move a little. My rwd does the same thing in neutral. I think the fuse is the best you can do without getting dirty and disconnecting parts.

This is not gospel. I don't have an awd so I am not an expert.

check out threads by Neal376 or send him a PM, he has played around quite a bit with disabling his AWD system on his X.

thats news to me.

there is no physical connection when you pull the AWD fuse. The G operates on a electromagnetic clutch that engages only when power is applied. when fuse is pulled and the power is cut, the clutch disengages. heck - the clutch is disengaged when you are above 30mph. must be something else

HOWEVER

vinny ten told me that even if you do pull the fuse...you should still run it on a AWD dyno....i assume he has pulled fuses before and seen this happen

hrm...mystery mystery

I would never run it on anything but an AWD dyno.

it was on a AWD dyno. even with the AWD fuse pulled the front tires started to roll as i got on the throttle.
i guess big smokey burn outs are out of the question.. and thought the car would be stronger with less drivetrain loss.
