Yes the 05/06 are a direct swap. They are in more demand than the 03/04 so will cost you quite a bit more.

Yeah, no one has that mod!! I say leave it! I would even point it out at trade in and convince tell the dealer that your car is a collector item, 'one of a kind'

Yes the he is cool in there right now, but I would take it out. It is going to get messy and look like crap later on.
