G35s vs. TL
I took the time today to go to the Acura dealer and compare our G sedan to the new TL. As nice a car as the TL is, I can honestly say that our G is the better sports car. I really do like the TL. In my opinion the tl is just as fast as a G but its too refined. The engine is too quiet and there is no feel in the steering or the shifter link in our G. Also, I have heard about hot hight tech and wonderful the new tl's sound system is. Well, after putting it though its paces I feel that the bose in the G is just as good if not a bit better. I will say that the tl sounded better with a DVD audio disk or with XM than out cars. But on regerlar CD or FM it was nothing special. The ride is also a bit mushy to me on the TL. I would say its a perfect car for my girlfried who wants a car that has the power, an easy clutch, and a more luxurious ride. For me however the G is much more of a sports car. The front wheel drive is very noticeable. Not as bad as the maxima I and but its there. I am confident that I bought the right car. And for 29K as opposed to 34K for the TL.

Re: G35s vs. TL
One interesting note concerning the TL is that Acura will have a new S-Spec upgrade available that is supposed to push the engine to 300hp. I wonder how Infiniti will respond to this.

300hp, but it'll still won't have any torque I've driven the new TL quite a bit (car shopping for a friend... woohoo!!), but I have to say it's a nice "sporty" sedan, but it's far from a sports sedan. Nice interior, though! Exterior? Eh, too conservative-- not my style, but I'm also biased.

here's a comparison from edmunds.com. I don't agree with comparing handling of a FWD vs RWD. This should compare to a Maxima, ES300. Nice, but not worth 37K. just my $.02

Re: G35s vs. TL
Hi all,
In response to your TL findings, I couldn't agree more. Before I purchased my 2004 G35 sedan last month I was considering the new Acura. I found the torque steer a real pain, the car looks incredibly conservative (like a British version Accord) and the driver feedback unthrilling. Don't get me wrong, It's a beautiful car, but you simply cannot compare Fwd too Rwd in a sports sedan.
My closest pick too the G35 (and I'm biased becuase I've already owned two of these) is the BMW 330i. It's a beautiful car, but for about 5k more than the G35, with aging sytling not too mention zero back room, the G35 was the only car for me.

Re: G35s vs. TL
You know, today I was along side a guy in a new TL, in traffic, for quite a while, he kept giving me dirty looks, not sure what that was about, guess he thought his TL was better than my G, but who knows, I find people like that funny as hell!!

Re: G35s vs. TL
If the S-Spec is pushing around 300hp...and its still FWD, can you say "torque steer". The new Maxima with 265 hp still has pretty bad torque steer...I might add....unless Acura does something to reduce the torque steer on the TL S-spec.

FWD and big HP does not always work well together. There was a CL-s that Comptech
dropped $20K+ on, 369hp/302lbft... still only did the 1/4 in 14.2 seconds. Not impressive at all.

Re: G35s vs. TL
Um...okay. I always assumed it was in the IS/ES300, G35s, A4, 330, S60, etc. category like its predecessor. I've not seen an A6/TL comparo... now TSX and Accord... well, the Accord isn't in the same category as the TL, so I didn't know people are cross-shopping it. Has Acura decided to step it up? I thought the RL was the A6/A8 competitor.

Re: G35s vs. TL
It's fair to compare the TL to the G35 just as Car & Driver does here. They don't seem to care for the TL torque steer. I think the TL exterior has a lot creases and seams that make it look patched together.
IMO, Audi will take the biggest hit from the infiniti G35x. "A4's have nicer interiors" isn't much leg to stand on.
