See here: https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-suspension/151399-rust-issues-r1concept-rotors.html

For pads, most of us run Hawk HPS or Project Mu. There are other brands, but those are the most frequently used.

I read that thread. I figured more of the rotors have been shipped since then so I'm looking for updated respoonses.

Thanks!

I've had the premiums on for 1 week now and I have no complaints I have seen very small rust spots but it's not noticable they go away when I drive. I expected that since I didn't get the zinc coating in my opinion it's not a big deal at all considering they rotors are great especially for $371.00 for all 4 I could have easily purchased the Stillen for twice the price but I also got their posi-quiet pads included. I upgraded my brake lines to their stainless steel brake lines while I was at it so including shipping I got a complete brake package for under $500.00. I let my brake shop install everything for me and they were suprised by the price I paid for the quality I got.

I have had mine on for about 5 months now. haven't had any reall problems to speak of. I will probably buy another set of fronts so when these wear out, I can easily replace them. Here are some pics of mine.

I also went with the stainless steel braided lines and did a flush of fluid with castrol synthetic.

I bought a set of drilled only rotors for my '98 Camaro z28 and I have had no complaints about them. I've had them for about 2 years now and they're cracked around the holes, but that is expected from drilled rotors. They get rusty when it rains but it goes away as soon as I start to drive. If you daily drive your car and don't autocross or put an enormous amount of strain on your brakes, they will be good for a while. I put an enormous amount of strain on my brakes so I do a rotor, pad, fluid swap every 2 years or so.

I went with Hawk street pads and they performed great. Low dusting and no fade. I drive about 80mph constantly on the freeway and get to over 100mph at some times. I can't say how much this setup has saved me in terms of saving me from accidents. I've been very pleased with this setup and what I paid for it.

The eline rotors, zinc coated. I do see a little rusting where the zinc coating should've protected it, but it's not too bad. For the price, the rotors work fine, and IMO that's more important than the cosmetics.

did you take any pics as you were prepping the rotors??? did you just spray paint all over the rotor face and let the pads scrape it clean????

please elaborate...

i took pics, but I can't find my CF card.

anyway, I sprayed 2 light coats on the outside face of the rotors. The hats were already black, but I ended up spraying them too just to make sure that I had even coverage.

the majority of the paint will scrpae off right away!!!
