Re: 300 foot skidpad
Doesn't one G represent the force needed to counter gravities pull on said object?
I checked Road and Tracks G rating system and they use a 200ft skidpad, they got .86 for the sedan (non-sport on all-season tires btw) and a 65mph slalom speed. Slalom course is 800ft long with cones spaced 100ft apart

Re: 300 foot skidpad
Gsedan35 is correct, one "G" is equal to the earth's gravitational pull. For example, if a jet pilot is said to endure a five G turn, that means he is feeling the equivalent of 5 times the earth's gravity in whatever direction he's being pushed. So when the sedan gets a .86g rating according to R&T, it means the car can sustain .86 times the earth's gravity laterally (i.e. sideways) before losing traction or control.
