Buying a G.. High miles... Questions!
I am a little sad that G's are devalued to $14k. I am glad you guys are able to enjoy this sweet car, but still.
I know brand new cars are a poor investment. I bought mine new with every option and then some for like $42k

My 03.5 6mt is still running excellent. I would say its running 98% as new. I have close to 103K on my sedan. Stock clutch as well. I have done all of the maintainance myself and I have never had any rust or electrical issues. I really havent hand many problems at all other than the rocking drivers seat. I think everyone here would be hard pressed to be able to look at or drive my car and and tell how many miles it has. People who ride in it still say it has the new car smell. I cant smell it though. What im getting at is its all in how the car is maintained. I honestly think I have put about $700 into this car since I have owned it. Just oil and brakes. So far I have no reason to doubt that this car wont run to 300K. Now it sits in the garage most of the time so I doubt ill ever find out. I say get the G if your comfertable with it. It should last you for years and 1000's of miles.
It looks like you noticed that the noisyest "expert" who told you how bad the G is was the only one who said anything really bad about it. My guess is he got a lemon, has buyer`s remorse, or he is a Toyota dealer!
Anyway, welcome! Enjoy the G, like almost all of us do.

Also, I can't say very much about the quality of a car that has a poll about the number of transmissions people have broken. Not to mention their service department is horrible. I've also said multiple times that the G is a great car... when it works correctly. There's no other car in its class that will touch it with all of its features and performance. But I've owned the car for two months and out of those two months, its been at the dealer for one. To me, thats definitely not worth the price tag. This gentleman sounded like he wanted to get a deal on a higher mileage G. To me that says that he won't want to throw money at it repairing it out of warranty. So my advice to him would be to get a more reliable car for the 14K than to end up worse than I am.
Call it what you want, but I tell it like it is, not like you want to hear. I haven't said anything negative that wasn't true.
i have an 05 with 20k miles and I have yet to have a single issue with this vehicle or infiniti parts
I brought the car in for rattles plenty of times...but every car rattles and I was only taking advantage of the rattle warranty
all other issue I have had have been with aftermarket parts

dont forget where you are
you are asking a bunch of guys how well their vehicle performed on a online messege board...most people come to these boards searching for help with issues they had.
plenty of people have asked how reliable the G is...this is the first time I have ever seen anyone respond so negitively.

Rattles I can deal with. Replacing a transmission, radio, wiper motors, gauge cluster, cruise control, and having internal rust on a door after 60k miles in a car that stickers new for 40K I cannot. You're totally right, every car has problems, but the severity and location of such problems determine its reliability. With that said, if a guy is trying to buy a 20K car at 14K to get a "deal", then he more than likely will NOT want to pay lots of money in the event something were to go wrong. If I were in the situation, the risk factor would be way too high, especially if the car was a stick.
It actually dawned on me a few days ago. When I was researching the G35 before I bought mine. I would read all these articles and reviews about how wonderful the ENGINE was. They were right. So far the engine hasn't given me any trouble (aside from the grinding noise nearly every morning on startup). It's just too bad Infiniti couldn't produce the CAR up to the status of its engine.
My car hasn't even been un-maintained. It's had all of its service intervals completed in a timely manner from the dealership it was bought from. The previous owner even had a few of the issues fixed within the last 20K miles prior to me buying it. Those same issues that were "fixed" came up again after I bought it. Be it the quality of parts or infiniti mechanics, this all produces the Infiniti "experience". In my particular case, the Infiniti "experience" has been something much less than desirable for its price bracket, thus I am thoroughly unhappy.
I don't want this guy to end up like me, stuck with a car that leaves a bad taste in his mouth and losing a lot of money either repairing it or trading it in.

I still have my 95 maxima that I bought with 65,000 miles and it now has 175,000. I’ve only had to replace the usual maintenance stuff like struts, battery, tire etc. The only item which I don’t know its considered maintenance or not is the starter but otherwise an excellent car.
Anyway, I co-worker of mine bought a new 99 maxima at that time and it was a total lemon. I felt bad because before purchasing she’d ask me about the car and I’d tell her what a reliable car it was, if you don’t know 95-99 maximas are same generation car. Since then I stopped recommending my own cars,, cause its hard to tell if they are going to live up to the reputation.
Truth is your taking a chance either way but at the very least it’ll be an educated one as you’ve done the research and come up with your own conclusion.

Please do not buy this car!!
I swear to you I just picked up an 03 Sedan with 31500 for $17,6. It needs some minor touch-ups (swirl removal, front breaks and floor mats) but it has a crystal clear Carfax Report (for what that is worth) and no "financially taxing" issues, even the tires have a ton of meat left on them...
They are out there, you just need to look!!
I found mine along with dozens of others. Granted there are 4 Infinity dealerships within 60 miles of me, but keep looking! If you love these cars be patient and find the right one, I promise you will!!!
