Buying a G.. High miles... Questions!

Ok, so I am looking at buying a G35 Sedan. I have found a nice black 2003 at an infinity dealership, where I purchased my last car. The car has had 1 Owner and has 87000 miles. Listed at 17 I got the price down to 14300.
How is the deal in your opinions and also, what are some things I should worry about in the high mileage situation?
If I purchase the car I will work in new pads and rotors, and also a 90000 mile service.

Currently, the owner of the dealership is at an infinity 2 day auction. He is trying to find a G for me in the same price range with less miles. I also usually always drive stick so I would prefer he find me a 6mt.

Thanks.

IMO I wouldn't look at a high mileage. Any G out of warranty should be had only by those with deep pockets.

I'm at 60K miles and I've had more electrical/mechanical problems than my car with 200K miles. I also had a hole in the door apparently from rust that formed UNDER the paint. This is all coming from a car that has been factory serviced its entire life.

Be very careful with the 6MT's. There is a poll on how many manual transmissions people have gone through.

Just a word of caution. Inspect the CAR VERY THOROUGHLY and if you don't have deep pockets, I wouldn't recommend the G at all, especially out of warranty.

I would look for one that has less miles on it. They are out there. I just picked up an 03 with 19,100 miles for 18k. Good Luck Hunting.

Don't buy it!! Find one with less miles. A friend of mine just got an 03 with 30K miles, and I believe he paid $18k. Mine has 60k, and I am worried about how much I may have to spend to keep it running great.

Then he'll have a deductible for each visit. My guess is if he's trying to get a deal at 14K for an 18K car, then he's probably not going to want to deal with all the hassle that comes with owning a G and especially having to pay like 100$ each time he has to fix something that broke. Besides, most "extended" warranties only cover power train, not the constant malfunctioning of electronics that we all know and love.

I haven't had one problem with malfunctioning electronics's or anything else. My car is not anywhere near 80,000 miles, but it has been great for the first 40,000. My only trip to the dealer so far was for a state inspection.

Personally I would look for a car with less miles just for peace of mind, but if you are going to save $4,000 it might be worth it.

Mine is an 04 with $40K miles and no problems except for having to replace my brakes on it twice. However both times were covered under warranty.

Usually people buy cars with less miles for peace of mind and they know it hasn't been abused. Good luck.

My 03 has 82K miles and has been the most trouble-free car I've ever owned by far. If it is truly a 1 owner car and there are service records to prove it's been well cared for, I doubt you will have any major issues for 100K more miles at least. Our Lexus LS400 has 221000 miles on it and I would drive that car from NY to LA any day without hesitation. Japanese cars built on Japanese soil are solid if you do the maintenance as required. $14K is a good deal, but take it to a trusted mech. to do a good check to be sure. Good Luck

i bought my 2003 with 60k on it in 2005 so was out of warranty and didnt have a problem. if you have more money get one with less milage otherwise you'll be just fine.
I don't know why people always say less miles is good? it all depends on how well the car was taken care of and driven.

I guess you guys got VERY lucky. I bought a low mileage one that was fully serviced at exact intervals by Infiniti.... we all know how THAT turned out.

Go for it 14 grand isnt bad at all, i just rolled into 90K with my coupe and i have yet to have any problems (knock on wood). If it is what you want get it! This car will run for a long time, it seems.

EDIT: It is also Infiniti not infinity, don't use microsoft word to check your grammar.

He doesn't want a high mileage one. It's just that he has only enough for a high mileage one. I'm kinda in the same boat
