I have a 2005 MT6 sport sedan and a bike rack that uses a 1 1/4" receiver hitch. What kind/brand of trailer hitch did you guys use? Where can I get it? Did you install yourself?

Boy, I know some people love roof racks and have never had an incident; but there are a TON of stories of people forgetting that it's there and crushing their bike and roof at a parking garage, drive-thru, whatever.

IMO, always go for the trunk rack like you (OP) said.

 

Trunk rack is what I already have, it fits my Pontiac. I just need a 1 1/4" reciever hitch for the G to put it on.

 

I have a 1 1/4 on my 05 6MT sedan. I believe it is a Dalan hitch and my mechanic friend did the installation. I use it for towing a light trailer and it works well. The trailer, when loaded, applies about 75lbs. downward force on the hitch.
