Ground kit + extra custom wire for tranny ecu
I happened to buy another ground kit from a member here. It had the tranny case ground but not the tranny ecu ground. I have an 03 auto that has the TCM near the ECU.
So I quickly made another wire using 8 ga and some connectors. Crimped and soldered. I attached it to one of the TCM holding brackets and ran it up to the battery ground strap connector on the firewall.
There is one bolt not used (oem uses two) and my existing kit removes the oem ground strap and replaces it with thick arsed wires/connectors).
Only got one day on it but it "seems" to be shifting better. I tried to use the best ground possible so I wouldn't have to move that around to compare. In MM, it seems to get into gear faster when manual shifting. And when left alone, it seems to downshift ever so slightly sooner.
Hell, even making one wire with connectors and doing just this might be worth it.
BTW IMHO 8 ga is plenty. Especially when a typical ground is only what, 18-20ga? And there's no heat in this area anyway.

I think so. I'm going to "guess" at least all G sedans until 05 do. As that's the year they got the updated TCM programming. ie.. MM auto shifts to 1st, rev matching downshifts etc.... So I assume that's the year they stuffed the TCM inside the tranny.

Well 04.5 might as well be 05. You know how that goes. I take it you have the newer tranny logic as stated though. If not, then THAT would be something odd.

I don't know what "tranny logic" is... so I'm not sure I have that.

In MM mode, does the tranny automatically go into 1st gear? Does the tranny rev match on downshifts?
