I have had tint removed and new tint installed it shouldn't be that expensive to remove tint like $60. As far as how much tint cost that's a broad question to ask anyone. I suggest you post in the regional forums to get an idea of what others are paying in your area. Here in Hawaii tint is a must and there are a lot of tint shops some as cheap as $70 with a 1 to 2 year warranty. The tint I have cost me a little over $500 dollars was it worth the money?...
For me it was I rarely turn on my AC which saves me gas which is $3.45 a gallon so in the long run my tint has paid for itself many times over now. My $500 dollars brought me 35% V-kool tint which is a higher end ceramic tint that blocks 97% of the UV rays from the sun basically it's like having limo tint without the darkness. On days that I do use the A/C the interior temperature drops pretty fast so I have no complaints.

Pretty much all tint can block out 97-99% UV rays. What is really important is heat rejection. Ceramic tints are very good at heat rejection, metallics in second and regular tint last. Usually the darker the tint the better heat rejection values.
I paid $140 for my tint. It's metallic base and even at 45%, it keeps out a good amount of heat and light that psases through the tint and on to my skin doesnt burn like untinted windows (UV rays blocked).
$150 for 20% all around. Lifetime warranty as almost all companies are including now.
When you call around and ask questions, take into account how they treat you on the phone and how knowledgeable they are. This is a good indicator of the type of job they will do. Sometimes spending a few more dollars is worth it to not have the imperfections or headache of trying to get them to "fix it" later on.
