Nothin' like a perfect 1-2 Shift in the morning

Man, its about 15 degrees out this morning, and I am heading up the freeway on ramp from a stop. 1-2 at about 6800 rpm, what a rush.

Just had to share.

that is some pull when you hit second at about 4500 rpm

Another nice rush is coming up behind a two cars pacing each other, one creeping past the other, you patiently tail the lead car.. the opening widens.. you're going about 78, so you drop it to 3rd.. now there's plenty of room so you nail the gas and slide over.. bam, doing 95 before you get all the way around them.

Then, of course, slow back down.. we only want to lead the pack, not get a ticket.

Yeah theirs something about the manuel in this platform that really give people fits to shift smoothly. Most of the video's I've seen with MT Z's and stuff has them not shifting to great.
Check out my second video here

Practice and be willing to change your technique to find what works. I have found that what shoe's I'm wearing is very important too.

Actually, mine's a 5AT, but dropping it to 3rd at 80 is still fun.

I'm just loving the cold mornings here in Houston. With the temps
in the 40s, I've gaind around 20 hp from summertime. Cold Air Rules!

It was -17 on my way to work today. Every time i hit the gas hard, a big puff of smoke formed behind me (it wasn't smoke, but water vapor from the exhaust). It was actually pretty cool to see this cloud form behind me as i took off ;-).

Last weekend... I was on some two lane roads. The G still impresses me...

I would be doing about 85 and hit 4th to pass... doing over 100 in nothing flat. Its pretty nice when a car you've had for 25k miles still puts a smile on your face..

at least 5 minutes, but it sits garaged so it only has to warm up from 60 degrees, only the air is cold.

"I've gaind around 20 hp from summertime. Cold Air Rules!"

LOL.... you don't gain 20hp from just colder temperatures like that. I believe the general rule is for every 10 deg drop you will gain 1 hp. That means it would take a 200 deg drop for you to gain 20 hp from the colder, denser air alone. Alomst impossible.

no, but you can watch an oil pressure gage and tell when the oil warms up by a drop from an extremely high pressure to a normal oil pressure.

oil pressure, water temperature, ammeter go into my car this month sometime I hope.

Speaking of oil temperature, here is a question for those of you who have an oil pressure gauge: How much time passes from the time the coolant reaches steady operating temperature until the oil reaches steady operating pressure? Does this difference in warm-up time between oil and coolant vary with outside temperature? I am assuming that the oil stabilization occurs last.

Why can't all cars come with all these gauges instead of relying on idiot lights to tell the driver something is wrong?

By the way, doesn't your car already have a water/coolant temperature gauge? Last time I looked, mine did.

Because they cost several dollars to put into the car, most people don't care, and over the production of 100,000 cars, they can save a million or so in costs.
