New owner trying to determine what kind of oil was used
Sorry, I call BS on that. You won't see more than 1 MPG better on this car. And I think you'd be lucky to see that if you really measured it right.
I use synthetic too, there are many benefits. But I think the MPG gains are almost complete fiction, perhaps on older cars they are not.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I am not fond of either of those choices actually, Royal Purple is way overpriced and Mobil 1 has had some unimpresive UOAs posted on this forum. I prefer Castrol Syntec for solid performance and a great price when purchased on sale. Add to that a Wix (or NAPA Gold) filter and you'll be good to go. I use the filter for the M45 as it is a little larger and I use about 5 1/4 quarts of oil with it.
ok ill take it in consideration, i was leaning more towards royal purple because my uncle owns a 300zx tt with more than 600whp and says its the right one. Even though i never thought you would mention castrol because i thought castrol is for high revving engines

I picked up the German Castrol from Autozone once, but after doing more reading I'm not convinced it's worth the extra cost.
