Canceling a order

How can I get my $1000 deposit if I cancel the order with my dealer? I placed the special order two week ago.

Re: Canceling a order

Wouldn't it be easier to ask the dealer on what their policies are regarding returning deposits for cars?

If you did not fill out any paperwork, you did not buy a car.

They have to give you your money back.

Re: Canceling a order

then don;'t let them bully you. get your money back as there was no contract signed. When i was buying my car the dealer asked for $500 deposit becuase only 1 in 50 Gs brought into the dealership had my configs (everything but butt warmers on the sedan). The dealer told me they had 2 deals earlier that month that they got "stuck" with cuz the person backed out of the deal after putting a deposit down. When I said, how could there be a "deal" without a contract....the reply was like "you know, it was an implied deal...but ya, there's always the chance they'll walk."

They never even charged my card for the $500, they just wanted to see if I was serious. Long story short... you've got $1k coming back to you... next time use a credit card instead of real money.

Re: Canceling a order

first, just ask for it. any reputable dealer will refund the money.

second, if you placed your order on 1/10, it most likely was after order day and hasn't even been placed yet ( it would go with feb).... so... just ask.

Re: Canceling a order

My dealer told me that they had placed the order already. Am I going to lose $1000 if I do not buy the car? Am I liable for the remaining agreement?. My dealer has my SSN and all the personal info.

Re: Canceling a order

What Studly says but have you asked the dealer for your money back to see what they say. The cars are supposedly still "Hot" so cancelling an order should not be a problem.

Did you sign anything in blood to make you so worried about getting your money back? People cancel orders all the time on these cars.
Dealer would have to be an *** and desperate to keep your money.

Check with dealer

When I signed the order with my dealer, the pre-printed form said that the deposit would be non-refundable and that it would be used for "damages" incase you cancelled.

I made them write in the description of the car that the "Deposit was refundable", as it all was contingent on me selling my Explorer privately.

But, I agree - a reputable dealer will just give you the $$ back. But, check the docs first.

Re: Check with dealer

It printed " Deposit non refundable on all approvedsales" on the vehicle cash purchase agrrement I signed.

I was told by my dealer that I am going to lose the deposit but I offered them 1/2 of the deposit. I am going to talk to the owner on Thur.
