Hard to get into gear 1 & 2

Hello,

I have been driving my 05 6spd for a couple of weeks. When I first got the car, it shifted into gear 1 and 2 pretty smoothly. Lately, it's getting hard to get into gear. It feels like something is preventing it from going in. What could this be? This usually happens when I want to start in first gear or when I am turning and shift down from 3rd to 2nd gear. I fully press the clutch in to put it into gear. I would like to hear from opinions. Thanks.

Could be a number of things....maintenance items like clutch fluid, tranny fluid; could be the way you're holding the shifter; or could be more costly mechanical issues like bad syncros....start with the simple/cheap fixes first and see if it gets better. If you still think something is wrong, get the dealer's opinion, since you're still under warranty.

sounds like synchro's to me we had a 911 at high rpms it did that there is a lot on this forum about synchronizers in the trany on 6mt the dealers are well aware of this you should take it in that is what a warranty is for

Thanks for your replies. If the problem is my synchros, did they do anything to make the new ones more durable. It seems like a lot of people are having problems with the 6spds. Thanks.

Well if your down shifting it might be a lock out or something if your going to fast for that gear.

+1 for syncros, our trannys are "tricky" quoted from one of the members on board, which is true. our 6mt arent as easy as others. all my cars i've owned are all manual. G being my first 6MT, i tend to have a hard to driving. my 2nd gear is a littly nasty.

i thought because i have an RE short throw shifter, my guide plate was misaligned, which was kind of part of the problem. most likely it'd be the synchros.

The synchros in this tranny are a pain. I'm on tranny #2 because of them.

I've never had any problems with 2 but 1 can be difficult at times. Most of the time, it's perfectly smooth.
