must be some electrical sensor problem again ....

i have to admit that these G's could be blast to drive but does not stand high on the reliability list

I know many of us will say this but I'll get it out here: Check your fuel cap and make sure it's on tight (turn it at 3-4 clicks is good enough). That's the most probable cause to the service engine light on the G35. Had that happen twice to me, and the SEL will go away after a few days to a week.

If it's not the fuel cap, then go to Autozone or Advance Auto and get the error diagnosed for free with a scanner. Then you can determine if you want to fix the problem yourself or take it to a dealer.

my CEL is ALWAYS on and its ALWAYS the stupid gas cap. I tighten it, STILL comes on every once and a while. I just goto the shop and ask em to read the error, im contemplating putting a piece of black tape over the damn thing!

My check engine light came on last Friday after I put gas in the car I made sure the cap was tighten and checked my anti freeze and that was pretty low so I filled that up drove the car for the rest of the day but the light still didn't go off so I took the car to the dealership they said that there's a TSB that needed to be done I couldn't really understand what the service guy said... but he said something in regards to the engine mounts is what the TSB addressed. They did that and reset the light and it's been fine since.

If your CEL comes on, and the code is for a gas cap, but your gas cap is fine, then it's one of the following:

1.) Faulty Gas Cap
2.) Leak in the Fuel Vapor Recovery System

The CEL for gas cap, means the ECU determined that the fuel-vapor-recovery system has malfunctioned. Most common cause, is the fuel-cap not being on correctly, but anything that causes the system to leak fuel vapors will trigger the code for this.

Never had the gas cap problem. I get O2 sensor codes from time to time but I have test pipes...

I had my MAF go @ 500 miles. But, my car didn't show any signs of a bad MAF. Not sure what happened there.

Make sure you get those codes read. Without those none of us can really help you.

Have to disagree with you there, my friend. Me SES light has come on twice for the gas cap, and this last time it took another fill-up to make it go away. But I wouldn't call the car unreliable. Practically the opposite, it's telling you something is wrong before the **** really hits the fan. It's not like people are spinning rod bearings or anything.

Yeah, The G35 won an award for best reliable used car. I'll agree that the cars a little quirky, but unreliable is defiantly not the right word hehehh

oh 100% guys, I had a Mazdaspeed protege before this, which I had bought brand new. you wanna see an unreliable car... pick up one of those. fun for a while, but after you replaced bushings 15 times, EGR valves 4 times, heard your engine detonating at stock boost... lets just say it was an easy choice to take the hit on the trade-in for my beautiful Arla (thats part of my liscence plate, hance its her name)

Disagree with you , in my 2 and half yrs of ownership of the G i had to go to the dealer atleast 5-6 times for warranty issues other than regular servicing and that is called " Unreliable"

On the contary my 5 and half yr old Honda Accord -- never visited the dealer other than servicing and oil change -- thats called " reliability"

Whether you agree or not Nissan is no way closer to Honda and Toyota in terms of reliability.

Just dropped off the car at the dealership, today when i started the car all 3 lights VDC, SLIP AND SEL was on and the car refused to move. Shutdown and restarted the engine and only SEL light was on and car was very sluggish.

Anyone experienced this before
